Malaga Airport Cercanias Station

Can someone please confirm that the new Cercanias Station is now operational at Malaga Airport?

Or does one still have that trip through the carparks, the long multistage ramp and that pedestrian bridge over the main arrivals/departures road to the old station?

The new station is totally operational and open. Everyone now exits the airport via the newTerminal 3 onto a large concourse. Simply head diagonally left across the large concourse immeditaely outside Terminal 3 and follow the signs to the station. It's around 150 metres from the Terminal to the Station. Trains from Malaga towards Fuengirola are 17and 47 minutes past the hour. All other details are here

Many thanks for that. Just wanted to make sure 'cos OH is recovering from a recent op and the old station was a bit of a drag.

Station is great but severe lack of ticket machines - only 2 for all those expected passengers.  Expect a long wait if  busy.

Will be lovely once all the connecting bits and pieces are in places to save a death defying walk across the road in front of taxi drivers.

 Hi i use the train station all the time but the last train to carvajal F uengirola  is 10 47 pm and as there is so many planes arriving after  this time  you would think they would put more trains on in the summer months like they do  over  Easter Irene

The only time they run late, I believe, is during the Malaga Feria.

 It does seem really strange that a country which 'stays up, dines, dicos, etc so late' would not have a better service.

 Incidentally, if you use taxis, which do not have a meter, ALWAYS ask what the fare will be before getting in.  (They all have a computer list of prices which you can ask to see)

From September 11th, the Cercanías rail line between Malaga and Fuengirola increase frequency of service, up from 70 to 104 trains on weekdays. There will be a train every 20 minutes instead of every 30 as before.
