We are thinking about using Polaris World air con because of the convenience - they will be at hand to provide technical service (in English) if needed,  it will be installed before completion and Polaris will be able to provide a 2 year guarantee.  Also they are unlikely to go out of business during the guarantee period.  Are we the only ones going with Polaris?

We're considering the Polaris radiators purely because when we went out in February it was cold and the aircon in the apartment we were in just wasnt warm enough. People (residing Mar Menor area) we have spoken to have told us that in the winter you are likely to need some aditional heating- oil filled radiators will do the same thing.  We're weighing it up at the moment- once they're in thats it done. No doubt we could get it done a little cheaper if we wait but as we think we wont be in until September or beyond then at least we will be warm on our occasional visits in the winter and its one less job. Air con we know we can get a better prices and it could even wait until next year when we can visit for longer periods and work the fitting into those times.

Its disappointing that there is no electrical point in the bathroom though, as originally a heated towel rail was the only job we thought we'd get Polaris to do.

Hi everyone.

This is my first post, but I have been reading what others have been saying about Condado with interest for a few months.  We have bought on block 10 of the Penthouse apartments and have recently had the same letter as others concerning the installation of air-conditioning by Polaris World.

Initially I thought about just letting PW carry out the work, peace of mind, guarantees etc, but it seems to me from what people are saying, I could get it installed a lot cheaper by an outside company.  I am in no rush to get it installed, and could easily wait until the property is complete as long it didn't create too much mess etc.

I noticed that one or two people have mentioned costs they have received for air con and  I would be grateful of any advice in this area e.g. websites to get quotes from etc.

I wait to hear from you.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Simon,

Welcome to the forum, i haven't had a completion date yet but i'm going to get all the handover completed before i start to look at air con. Once we've bought i will be looking and so far i have had one recommendation which i haven't been in touch with yet. It's a company called polarair, it's web address is www.polaraircostablanca.com see what you think. Their much cheaper than polaris.

Simon

We've just placed our order this week with Polaris for the cheaper of the 2 models that they offer. We paid Euro2600 for 3 units (2 beds + living room) including installation.  As has been posted elsewhere on this forum, it looks as though you could get it elsewhere cheaper, but when I looked on a couple of different Spanish web sites the units themselves seem to retail around Euro 750 each - so it didn't seem too bad a deal.  The deciding factor was the fact that it'll get installed before we complete, and the usual piece of mind thing....

Both of the models offered by Polaris do hot and cold.  They originally said that they could also install electric radiators, but then later said that they're no longer an option for the Jardines (not sure why).

Hope that helps...

I believe you will be able to get the radiators after completion, it was just that they couldnt fit anymore beore the completion of building work.
