Hi Westport,

Maybe you already knew this, but Imperial has most if of it's items on stock. That's why I mentioned them as worth a visit. The packages are not their main business so you can very well go in with your own shopping list.

Hi Max

Is Imperial up in Mijas. If its the place I think it is, I was there about a year ago. Some good quality stuff, but I dont think I would be able to afford their packages. I suppose it comes down to two things. Can you afford a package, or do you have the time to go around all the shops. Will be over in April,, would like to meet up for a beer.

Cheers

Westport (Pearce)

Hi Pearce,

Lorraine is right about the location. The packages are quite expensive, but as you can buy all the individual items (and much more) in their shop you can make up your own considerably cheaper package. As they have most of the stuff in stock it's quite convenient.

Hello all.  There are many good places in and around Fuengirola to buy everything without having to go to Malaga.  There are several large stores up the Mijas road for furniture and particularly one called 'Danese' near to the  ' Lidl store'  just  leaving the town.     Also in the large 'Miramar centre' there are two or three more, and other shops such as   'Tu casa'   that sells everything for the home.  For those who don't know there is also alot of stores accross the river from the 'Miramar' near to the Dunnes Store, There you will find an excellent British bed store, which is very large and yet another furiture store (they also do packages).      Furthur long there is   'Singways' ( furniture)----  AKI  (large DIY store) ---Boulanger (huge store like Curry's)and also another next door but a different brand. There are  many furniture packages available all over  all with different qualities and prices, I think its down to personal choice in the end, with many renting out, they will be different from us living here full-time.   Us personaly are looking forward to putting it all together ourselves, and having been looking for 2 years now we a chomping at the bit to get spending.     all the best   MARTIN

Hi Andy,

Just noticed that you mentioned that you were going to bring your stuff over in a transit van, I was hoping to hire a van to collect goods and furniture for the apartment so if you were interested we would hire yourself to collect the items, I am all for keeping business in the complex.

Thanks Eoin and Lorraine

Like Calv/Martin says there is no real advantage going to Malaga for furniture. Fuengirola (or actually Migas) has a large furniture business. People from all over the costa come over to shop here.
Even within Fuengirola city there are some nice shops like Moreno Rivera with reasonably priced quality stuff.

Eoin and Lorraine,

Not sure if Andy's services extend into furniture buying, but this last weekend we decided to definitely go along with our property management and rental business. As such we are willing to fullfill all needs which go with setting up your home in Spain.

If you have any wishes or requirements please let us know as we would like to hear what are the typical problems for new owners of Spanish properties. You can always pm me with specific questions. As a startup we like to hear and experience as much as possible so that we can prepare and learn.

We already setup a good connection for real estate insurances (including liabilities for renters) and we'll be able to help with selecting a value for money airco supplier, kitchen appliances (no dishwashers installed by default!), satellite dish installers, etc. Of course we'll also offer all the classic services like key holding, rental services, cleaning, maintenance, inspection and general troubleshooting.

We want to build up experience so we don't expect the Don Juan community to be profitable for us. We just want do deliver quality service and learn from this pilot project.

Hi guys

As you know I have done the trip and am back in the UK for now. I did purchase a few things for DJ like beds, sideboard ,mirror, and a massive chrome lamp , and they all come with free delivery. Eoin if you are having trouble with delivery's a friend I know has a landrover and trailer , he lives in Mijas and would pic stuff up for you at a good rate. If anybody needs this service contact andyirwin80@hotmail.com and I will give you my contacts number. Oh a word of advice ,If you shop at the big furniture stores on the Mijas road you have to haggle. I got about 700 euros knocked off the original price and still got free delivery.

Andy

In my mailbox I found a brochure from an amazingly low-priced furniture shop. Stuff looks good (in print at least) and the company has at least fifty shops all over Spain so they can't be too bad. The nearest is in Malaga. I will visit it in the near future.

You can look them up at www.merkamueble.com and see for yourself. They have a 'excedentes de fabrication' sale going on with even more remarkable prices. You can find the leaflet on their site.

Just found out that Stelios (Easyjet founder) is moving into the van hire business. I think the address will be www.easyvan.com . Might be some help to some of you that are bringing over your own furniture.

Don't know this shop, but Estepona is about 60 km (40 miles?) from Fuengirola.
The main furniture shopping areas on the costa del sol for furniture are Malaga en Mijas Costa. All the large Spanish chains have stores in at least one of these places. This attracted a lot of independent furniture shops so there is ample choice in this area. Mijas Costa happens to be just a few miles from Carvajal so I would advise to start your search there. There are enough stores there to keep you occupied for a day and the cover the whole range of prices.

Hi Eoin, Estepona is just past San Pedro which is just after Puerto Banus about 30 min drive from Fuengirola. I have received some literature from this firm (furniture express) and agree they do seem to have some good stuff. There many furniture shops in the estepona area most of which are small independents which I would think would mean keener prices but you never know till you check it out.

Hi RG

Thanks for the directions I looked at the web site and they seem to have everything that I want in furniture. At  a good price.

Also I recon that Phase 1 has to be finished to a high standard as this block is what the other blocks will be looking at to sell the other apartments.

May would be great.

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from Spain having ordered a few larger item's for the apartment,as Max has already stated on a previous post their is a realy good selection of furniture shop's in Mijas Costa this being only a five minute drive from Don Juan.

All the shop's we ordered from gave free delivery and 3 months fee storage (hopefully thats enough !!!!!! )Prices vary depending on what quality you want.We got a realy modern glass /chrome table with 6 leather/chrome chairs for 800 euros we thought great value and a leather suite 2,000 euro's about what we would pay in the UK.

Happy Shopping.

Steve and Sam.

Hi Everyone

Still no news on completion but browsing a few other threads and this seemed interesting.

We too have looked at Furniture Express and are going to use them to furnish our place, but the lighting available was not to our taste.  Has anyone else bought lighting from a lighting shop rather than had it in with the furniture package?   When we searched the web it seems to be that lighting is only available at Cabopino Lighting, we haven't been there yet, has anyone else?

Look forward to hearing about other peoples opinion on this topic.

Jim and Joan
