Hi

We are buying on Phase 4 Calas del Pinar and are moving into rented accomodation when we go out in May until our house is ready. Both me & my husband are keen golfers and as well as the golf course next to the development which is a while away from being ready, we came across the new one in the hills which I understand opened yesterday, Mundo Aguilon. Has anyone any knowledge of any opening membership offers that may be available. I have e-mailed them for more details but if anyone else is aware of this course I would be interested to hear from you.

Hi Folks,

Yes the new golf course 'in the hills'  Mundo Aguilon Golf (also known as Santa Cristina Golf en Mundoaguilon) did open on Saturday last. Went to the office today and got a few prices and membership details.

The golf cours is run by AymerichGolf Management and, when you join, you join their whole series of courses. Membership comes at several levels:-

Platinum - Initial fee of 7,500 euros plus 700 euros per year. This entitles the member to use all 11 of their Platinum courses for between 3 and 5 euros per round. (Mundo Aguilon is 3 euros) You can also play on any of their 4 Gold courses for 15 euros per round. You also get a 25% discount at any of the 7 Associate courses (see below for list of courses)

Gold - 300 euros per year (or 500 euros for member plus one other family member). For this you get a price of 15 euros per round on all Platinum and Gold courses and a 20% discount at all Associate courses. There is a limit of 7 rounds per course per year.

Silver - This is not on sale

Bronze - 100 euros per year. Gives a price of 25 euros per round on Platinum and Gold courses and a 20% discount at all Associate courses. There is a limit of 5 rounds per course per year.

Green Fees - for a single round are 65 euros with buggy hire at 30 euros (all members above can hire buggies for 15 euroes)

The course is a par 70 of lengths - white 6003 metres, yellow 5503 metres, blue 4877 metres and red 4341 metres and there is a small bar area at the clubhouse.

Patricia in the Calas del Pinar office has a meeting with the course manager today at which she will be trying to get a discount for all Peinsa customers.

Many thanks for that. I did eventually come across the Aymerich website yesterday and managed to decipher most of what it said but there were no prices for the platinum. Do the platinum fees give you unlimited visits (providing you pay your 3 euro fee?) I thought I saw that it was restricted to 30 visits in a year, or maybe that was where my translating fell down. Also, do you know whether the 7,500 joining fee buys anything that has value, i.e. can you at any stage get any of this money back or sell it on?

I will be most keen to see if we can have a discount for buying from Peinsa, thanks very much for checking this out, it's  a great help.

Hi,

Yes the Platinum fees give you unlimited access (at 3 to 5 euros) and as many practice balls as you like!!!!!!!

I don't think that there is anything else of a tangible nature though.

I will try and find out.

The lady in the club house speaks perfect English and is on 0034 608 549 869 (note that this is a mobile number) if you needed anything further.

Regards

Stu

For any golfers, I have finally played a full 18 holes and taken photos as I went round. I have made a slide show of this to gove you a real flavour of the course. I hope it encourages you to play it.

Hopefully if you copy this link into your browser it will open up ok, first time I've used photobucket for a slide show and can't get it to load up properly in here (computers not my strong point!)

For anyone playing at the moment (get an early tee time as its about 30 degrees by midday now) its 110€ for 2 people and a buggy which is fantastic value for such a lovely course.

There is lots of pics on my site and if you want more info please get in touch.

Anyone going out in the next few weeks, the course are doing some good deals - 80 euros for 2 people including buggy, tee off before 12 noon, tee off between 12 & 4  - fee's 70 euros for 2 people incl buggy and a drink each.

The course is in excellent condition, last weekend they had a competition there so had been working hard to get it in tip top condition.  I've played the Brabazon at the Belfry  and Slayleigh Hall and Aguilon is easily on a par with either of them but for the higher handicapper, there are escape routes to allow you to avoid some of the hazards - and if you don't have a long drive guys, there is no shame teeing off from the blues on some of the holes. I play of 28 and managed 28 points last week - so challenging, but not impossible, mind - we do play 3 times a week now so I am getting lots of practice.

I'm so going to miss my golf this week, I'm certainly not playing while I'm in England - my days of playing in wet gear and mud are well and truly over.
