Probably best to ask an Apache! Yes, you may groan, but I haven't posted for a while........................

I have a PDA with Tom Tom installed and UK/ European maps. It is easy to switch between maps, you just need to make sure you have the most recent version possible, which is V6.something. Halfords and the like are selling the Tom Tom One with European mapping for £149.

As with all sat navs though, a certain amount of common sense is needed when using them. Some of the instructions aren't very clear, it will tell you to keep left when it means turn left. Other than that, they are a very handy bit of kit, and TT are currently stil the best out there for the money at the moment

We used our Tom Tom during our last visit - extremely confusing with new roads being built all the time - trying to get out of the development and to the main road was hilarious as it still registers as scrubland - our instructions were turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left - so we went around in a circle !! It is useful on the major roads etc but it will tell you to turn right or left at the roundabout and you may find there is no longer a roundabout there !

Good Luck

Shaz

I uses a TT to get from Santander to AAT in September; it worked a treat although as previously mentioned, the development doesn't feature at all.

You can update maps by plugging it into your PC and going online but I'm not sure how often they update it at their end.

Definitely worth getting I'd say.

Cheers.

I can't really give an accurate time because we were in my little old MG and consequently cruising at 55mph!

It's about 600 miles most of which motorway so it could be done in a day in a modern car. We broke the journey up and stayed in Albacete (200 miles from AAT) for the night though.

It's a lovely drive though and the ferry is more like a cruise ship (not cheap though).

Sorry I can't be more helpful with the timings.

Gareth.
