The Best Bar/Restaurent I came across is Vanta El Puerto (I think I wrote correctly) Very friendly and also very famous amoungst locals and foreigners. 5 Mins drive from the resort.

The best Beach is Cartegena, loads of history and beautiful beach.

First of all there isn't any beaches within a 20 minute drive of Corvera, there is a very good selection of beaches around but they are all 45-50km from the resort

Going towards the airport at San Javier you have 3 choices, the first beaches around Los Alcazares, Lo Pagan, by the walkway to La Manga which are all of the Mar Menor with a good choice of restaurants along the fronts, loos but peak season parking can be tricky. The Mar Menor isn't the med, the water is warm and very shallow but there are still issues with water quality due to the flooding.

Turning left onto the N332 then the have the beaches on the med, around Torre De La Horadada, godd parking in large car parks, beach bars, loos and the ckeaner water and waves on the med

Abount the same mileage but more traffic on the smaller roads you have the beaches of Mazarron, wonderful beaches, restaurants around the harbour and boat trips. Parking can be difficult in the peak season but normally of you are willing to pay park in the harbour underground

Great site to see reviews on all local beaches, www.onthebeach.com

There are plenty of choices for restaurants around Thge Mar Menor, try Little Scilly and Lusines, reviews on Trip advisor, best steaks, Gaeigo  in Pillar Venta Puerto is in Banos Y Mendingo, yes locals favourite

Hi Mavis,

Like yourselves we are still exploring the area and finding new places and restuarants each time we visit.

With regard to beaches Los Alcazares is 37km (approx 35 mins) away via RM19. If you want to go further Isla Plana is a lovely place and further along the coast is La Azohia with a lovely vibe, nice beaches and lots of beach bars. Isla Plana is approx 50mins away via RM601 & RM332 and a lovely scenic drive. Puerto Mazarron is just back along the coast where you'll find lots of bars and restuarants. We had menu here at Viggos which is next to the harbour and 4 courses including wine was just 10 euros.

Thank you to AM1977 we will be going to Venta El Puerto on our next visit, had a quick google search and looks great and with good reviews and not too far away.

The road that takes you down to the Mar Menor, may be the RM19 on maps but is actually signposted the C3319 signposted on the split towards Aeroport. Around Santiago Del La Ribera , the closest beach to the road, it is difficult to park in peak season

Watch out for the speed camera, live camera, by the Roldan turn off

Better to turn off towards Alicante and drop off at Pilar, better parking and it is on the Med so cleaner water and waves and only 2-3 km more travelling

Another restaurant closer restaurants in Roldan, epecially Tosca,, great 3 course meals for €10 and opposite the curry house, I think better than the Jaipur Palace

can really recommend the eating places in roldan ...........the honeybar i think its called is fabulous for fish chips steaks etc and their indian nextdoor has so far provided our family and friends with some of the best meals we have ever had . across the road is i believe italian and meals there have been fantastic too...the first time we had meal there i got swordfish steak with egg on top and chips . which seemed strange fish with egg on top but it was delicous.

love los alcarerez but dont like sea as its always full of plant matter (best thing i can think to call it)  but the town is spot on

For a good restaurant quite local, try Oso Blanco in Fuenta Alamo (about 15 minutes). The owners used to manage the restaurant at the top of Hacienda Del Alamo Golf.

I agree with AM1977 about Venta El Puerto 1. in Bano y Mendigo. Note that this is one of three all owned by the same family. Not tried the other two, but 1 is run by the sister and brother, who are both excellent hosts.

Looking forward to trying the restaurants in Roldan in September.
