Hi billy

We used professional and legal solutions - PALS in Mazarron - 00 (34) 968595826 - they are English speaking and managed the whole process for us, including setting up bank accounts and obtaining NIE numbers, and also complete our annual tax returns.  On the downside they are an hour and a half drive away which was a pain in picking up the keys.

We also use the soliicors at Le Torre for contents insurance and I have heard postive things about them and they are of course much closer.  I don't have contact details for them though as we generally just pop in while we are over.

Hi

We are using the ones on La Torre. They are LS Solicitors and it is Amaya who you deal with. She has helped with everything like below. Suggest that you just pop in for a chat, as she will give you a full breakdown of all the likely costs not just legal. They are in the town centre part of LA Torre which is close to the main entrance, the RM-19 side.

Hi billy

I noticed you edited your request to ask about agents also.  If you haven't chosen an apartment yet i would recommend contacting Blue Med Invest as we brought through them and they were significantly cheaper than La Vida and Polaris world themselves.  They do the free accomodation viewing trips also.

Interesting zooropey, I went through La Vida and found them very helpful. They sent lots of information to help be understand the total costs involved in purchasing and running the property and were very helpful all the way through. The representative at LTDLT, Joaquin, is excellent. Listens to what you want and shows you a number of properties and he got us spot on. We ended up buying the first property he showed us even though we viewed lots more. No pressure to buy and very relaxed viewing. We actually viewed on 4 seperate occasions and he couldn't have been more helpful. He is also very knowledgable about all that is happening at LTDLT and will fill you in on all the things that are going on and should be aware of.

La Vida did charge €3000 for the service but this is included in the prices displayed on their website. This is standard for spanish estate agents I thought? I also thought they were exclusive on the Bankia owned properties which are significantly cheaper than the other properties owned by Polaris or others. Is this not the case?

Like cyclinggrezzer, we also used Abad Abogados in Los Alcazares and have found them to be very good so far. We gave them power of attorney and they got our NIE numbers, opened our bank account at Deutsche Bank in Los Alcazares and are also sorting out the connection of the utilities etc. Cost was similar to what you would expect in the UK for a purchase but as above, they do a lot more than a UK solicitor.

The process was slower than I hoped but they chased Bankia and the land registry regularly for us.

Hi Duncan - i don't think la Vida are exclusive for Bankia although they claim to be as we brought from Bankia via Blue Med Invest.  I think Spanish estate agents bend the truth somewhat.  We also got shown a variety of properties on Terrazas and other resorts and again no pressure - so it is worth shopping around.  Blue Meds charge was less than €3000 but that maybe because we negotiated the price down a little.
