Current completion times?

Hello all,

We are in the process of purchasing a bank owned property on LTDLT. We paid our deposit to the extate egents (La Vida) in the first week of December. We engaged the lawyers at the same time. We paid the bank deposit in the first week of January and transferred the funds for completion on 23rd January.

Since then nothing has happened. We are being told that we are waiting for Bankia and the Land Registry to sort things out but we are not being given any view of when we can expect it to be completed.

Has anyone else completed in the last three months? How long did it take? What were the milestones/dates?

We were hoping to enjoy our new apartment on Easter weekend. This clearly isn't going happen now. Are we being unrealistic to expect it to be completed by the end of March and the utilities to be connected by end of April?

What are others' recent experiences?

Today I received an email saying we will complete next Friday so the total process will have taken just short of 4 months. A few weeks more than the 10-12 weeks we were told to expect.

I understand from others this is normal.

Apparently there are a number of people in the same situation as me i.e. waiting for Bankia to complete the paperwork. This effectively took 2 months from me being ready to complete to them clearing their paperwork and being in a position to complete.

Hope this info helps others who are thinking of buying or who are in the process of buying.

We've completed! Apparently not the only ones to do so on LTDLT today. Graham, we will be needing buckets of water next weekend.
