Hi

We are coming over this week to have a look at what is on offer but after reading this board i am getting mixed messages about Condado de Alhama.

Is it worth buying on this site?

I did 4 months ago and love it.  Some people on here talk out of their arse and would talk anything down.  I was at AGM and was ashamed to be from the UK. You know who you are!

It all depends on why you wish to buy.  If it is purely for an investment the jury is still out.  Should you wish to buy a holiday home that you can enjoy and hope it will be a good investment, I feel Condado is the place.  We were amongst the first to arrive on site, although disappointed with the lack of progress at  Condado we still love the place.  It is fairly central for some superb beaches. You are only some 50 mins from Cartagena, Murcia and Alicante etc.  La Manga strip is only an hour or so away.  Should the Paramount project go ahead then we will have the best of both worlds, a great and sought after holiday resort with good rental potential and an increase in the value of our properties.  Personally I am a believer, I think Paramount shall come to fruition, Corvera airport will open and we will all get what we hoped for out of Condado.  Unfortunately there are a few detractors on this sight that will bad mouth the resort, they seem very bitter at the fact the Polaris plan did not pan out. Personally I am happy with my lot, the family love it and our friends love it.  At the current prices I still feel it is a wise investment for the reasons I have stated.  Please note that this is a personal opinion based on my experience and knowledge of the resort, the Paramount project is still at the early stages an cannot be counted on as a banker.  You only have to look around the resort at the road links, new airport and high speed rail link, and then ask yourself why?  Happy shopping, I sincerely hope you get what you are looking for.

Have a good time at Condado, for me it is still a great opportunity to have a great holiday home.

All the best.

Its a great holiday home and even better if you have young kids.

The fact that there are not multiple bars I think means certain holidaymakers won't consider it and the clover has turned into a local where you usually run into people you've met from previous visits.

All in all agreat place to relax and enjoy yourself

Here now, great gardens, great apartment, great pool, great co-owners, all enjoying themselves. I don't play golf but understand the course is great but needs a clubhouse, supermarket is ok, as is the clover, restaurant said to be re-opening shortly.

Here with my 16 year old daughter and her 3 mates, off to the port tonight for Tapas ............. chilled

You can get away without a car if you are here to do nothing but chill, but if you want variety then you need one or be prepared to book taxis.

And the Port was the busiest I've ever seen it, every restaurant was full (loads of new ones), and loads of people teeming about, even the underground car park wasn't far off full ........... €37 for tapas and drinks for 5 of us as well, all stuffed, cracking value

We bought our 2 bed in Jardin 5 off plan & have been holidating on Condado for just over three yrs now

We arrived home yesterday & are planning our next trip for a couple of months time. We love it & no regrets what so ever.

We have made some great friend mainly Spanish (who will make you very welcome even if there is a language barrier. My suggestion is to try & learn a few words as they really do appreciate you trying. Dont worry about correct pronunciation as they know you are trying.& will understand) and  many really great English friends too who are always there for you if you need to know anything or to give you some great advice.

As for children. Well language never seams to be a proplem for them & alll seam to get on very well together.

What ever you choose do do may I wish you all the best. But truthfully I would say go for it. But go to the banks first as that is where the  better deals are.

We bought at the start of the year. We had the benefit of seeing what was there before we bought rather than what was promised in the beginning. Have to say that we love it already. Great place and great people. Took the kids at easter and they loved it too. Cant wait to get back there in 3 weeks. If you are buying a holiday home to get away from things then i would go for it - we got a good deal buying from the bank both on price and funding. If you are looking for an investment then it needs to very long term.
As for this forum there are some great bits of advice and people are happy to point in the right direction. You just need to bear in mind that as with life in general its all too often that people want to focus on the negative side of things.

We are just about to spend our 3rd summer in the apartment and absolutely love it - infact it just gets more difficult to leave every time we go.

We bought originally because we found it was so expensive to take the kids on a package holiday during the summer and we now manage to go out 5 or 6 times throughout the year for the same price as that 2 week package holiday.  We don't rent out but let family and friends use the apartment whenever they want and they seem to enjoy it as much as we do.

We didn't realise when we bought at Condado what a great community we would buy into and have met many good friends throughout our visits.

If you are in it for the long term go for it.  Don't be put off by the posts on this forum. The majority of people we have met are more than happy with their purchase but refuse to be post on here anymore - which is a shame.

The best thing you can do is go out and spend some time at the resort and see how you feel after that.  If you like the resort, now is definately the time to buy.  In the past couple of months, the final 3 apartments in our block have now been sold.

Exciting times ahead.

We own on the isla. Love it. Have met some lovely people and look forward to getting out again in two weeks. Although everything that was planned for the sight has not come to fruition it has everything my family needs for a great time. Recommend it

Realistically I would be VERY careful before you part with your money.

Urbanisations are not for everyone!

Condado at the moment is very isolated - little or no facilities/transportation. This is unlikely to improve unless a major developer is prepared to take it on and build more units which will in turn provide potential finances for facilities.

Camposol is far better appointed from the facilities point of view; but again there is a transport "black hole". If you live on the outer reaches some form of private transport will be required.

Golf/Country Club is the best development in the area, as far as I know it has actually been finished, something the others lack.

Your best advice is to rent initially and spent your time researching, look at the build quality, the impact on the environment, the facilities, the current/future running costs and of course does it suit your hopes/expectations.

Read ALL the forums, bulletin boards you can, you have already picked up on this one, the bitching and back-biting that goes on. Most importantly "Read between the Lines"!!!

There are good deals about at the moment, your investment could be for today AND tomorrow.

We have lived here for nearly 3 years and do not feel isolated, If you come from a big city and are used to having everything at hand

then maybe it will be different. we are secure and have a good administration to run things. Business are developing. It is busy now but even in winter we do not feel cut off. Learn some Spanish to get you started , viisit and explore. Make your own mind up

Re  Campasol

OK if all you want is the sun & not to have to bother learning spanish but that  was not for us. CANNOT SEE THE POINT OF BUYING ABROAD IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET IN VOLVED WITH THE PEOPLE WHO`S COUNTRY  you are in

If all you want is to eat fish & chips & english breakfasts then go somwhere else.

Before buying abroad ask the locals which buyer they would buy from.

No Spanish as far as I know on Campasol.

5 yrs ago we stayed in Spain to do our home work. We were advised to steer clear of two  companies & the builders of Campasol was one of them. Campasol home owners have  been let down by their builder so many times.PM me if you want to know Who the other is. Polaris did have an excellent reputation & as I have said before this financial climate was not their fault. So do as others have advised. Do your homework.well in advance of purchase.

We love Condado. The people, & the enviroment.

I do not drive but would happily go over alone & get a taxi if & when it was needed.

Lots of things will be happening on Condado soon I believe which has to be  good

As someone pointed out below, best to come and stay at the Urbanization for a short while and you will soon make your mind up. There are plenty of people on this forum who will rent you their apartment.

Be wary, like any forum, you will get a bias view. You wouldnt go on a Manchester United forum and ask people which football team you should support?

I am disapointed with Condado and regret my purchase. Mainly for the followin reasons

-The facilities promissed never materialised (not blaming anyone, just a fact)

-The urbanization is very isolated and if you dont rent a car, taxis can be expensive.

-The values of properties have plummeted (although buying now, that shouldnt affect you)

-The place is unfiniahed.

-When I calculate the annual running costs divided by the amount of nights I spend at Condado, I would be cheaper flying business class and staying in 5 star hotels.

I would also look at resorts that are finished, I think La Torre is a fine example of what Polaris can do. Also Mar Menor (another Polaris) does have lots of facilites and is closer to beached and nearby towns. At least if you buy on a finished resort you have more idea of what you are buying.

Good luck.

Darren is right in most of what he says...the business class flights and five star hotels being the exception (in our case anyway)

I've stayed on La Torre and Mar Menor (albeit only for a few days each) and they are definitely more developed and with more facilities.

Would I swap...nope.

If you're looking for a bustling place with lots of cafe's, pubs, shops etc CdA is not the place for you.  Campasol might be or one of the other resorts.

CdA is a great place to getaway from it...no highrise compounds, easy and safe to walk and cycle around, first class golf course (albeit with no clubhouse), and the basics of a pub, restautant, and supermarket. And of course a weekly market now and possibly a 2nd bar.

We've been holidaying at CdA for 3 years now and have enjoyed it immensely.  Have made friends within our jardin and also through the golf society which makes it even better.

For us its the perfect place for our young family (young being the kids only) as the playgrounds and pool are on your doorstep and for me the golf course is close by.
