Hi Ken,

This is one of the things that EOS will be implementing at some point.  We just need to have a think about how best we go about doing it.  It will be something like a private member's area where you can upload documents (AGM minutes etc.).  Me and Justin were actually talking about this yesterday as it happens.

One of the issues we have is how do we make sure only owners of Arenal have access?

David

Ken, this was raised before - I had a quick look at previous topics but couldn't find it.

You can use a third party host to handle an Arenal Duquesa Owners Forum - at Coto Real we use www.forumotion.com, and is restricted to Owners only.

(As a Community we had started off "open to all" but on balance this was not suitable)

David, regarding access, you would need to appoint an Owner who would be able to approve/reject membership applications.

Once a community committee is running (is it already?) it will have access to owners names and apartment numbers for community purposes and our committee rep should have access to this information. People could use their apartment address as proof of ownership on the application for entry to a private forum and this could be checked against actual owners names held by the developer/committee. That way no-one is really asked outright for their details (invading privacy) but people are at liberty to volunteer them in order to use the private forum.

Ken, I wouldn't get disheartened. First thing you need to realise is that apathy rules !.

Go ahead with your Owners Forum, and gradually Owners will see the benefit of it.

Sorry Ken ,

We think it is a good idea.  It makes sense to start a blocked forum lets face it, we will only be discussing the development and if you don't own a property there why would you be interested in what we have to say??

Ken,

Sorry we didn't respond.

We agree, it would be a good idea to have a residents only forum, but have no idea how to set it up!!!!!

As others have pointed out, once it is set up, other residents will join and want to use it!!!

Regards

Steve and Carol

We agree its a good idea, but how do you work it for non English speakers.  Everyone has to be given the chance to be  involved.

Sorry Ken for no replying! I think it's a good idea and did actually start looking at doing it when we got back to England in May after it was suggested.I actually Had a go at doing it but there were lots of decisions to make(Name, colours, layout etc) and you had to nominate yourself to be the administrator which seemed a bit presumptuous so I abandoned it.I'm no expert but I don't mind having a go if you lot want me to.Let me know what you think.

Not been home. Hi Ken. Just got back. I agree too, but as someone who is non-computer literate, I'd have to rely on others to set it up.

Sue, please do not feel presumtuous!!!! you've got my vote!!!!!  thanks for offering.

We are more than happy to give you the reins on this one Sue.  Let me know if there is a fee attached and I will arrange our portion of the payment for you.

As for our Spanish residents, I know that Nanty in block 6 reads the Arenal Duquesa thread on Manilva Life (aided by an internet translator), not too sure about EOS, will speak to her about it in a few weeks when I out there again.  Always a difficult one when there is a language barrier to overcome.

I can appreciate why you would want to do this, and I would certainly support your actions, but I feel you would still benefit from a general forum, as you are a new community and would benefit from experience of existing owners in other developements.
