DIRECTIONS TO CONDADO FROM SAN JAVIER AIRPORT ( From http://condadodealhamaservices.com )

•   Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena.

•   Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)

•   Leave AP7 at Exit 790 signposted for Torre Pacheco.

•   Keep following signs for Torre Pacheco – you will pass the Polaris World Garden Centre on your left.

•   Shortly after the PW Garden Centre, you will come to a roundabout – go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco).

•   You will immediately see the building work for Phase 2 of the Mar Menor Golf Resort on the right and a red hotel with white dots on (Barcelo Torre Pacheco) on the left.

•   At the next roundabout, take the A30 turning, sign-posted for Murcia/Cartagena.

•   Continue on the A30 and at next roundabout take the second right turn.  (Note – the first sign on approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!)

•   Follow the main A30 road through the village of El Jimenado.

•   Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top!

•   Shortly after the chicken factory, you will reach a major roundabout.

•   Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucia.

•   Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km.

•   Look out for sign for RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar – take this exit.

•   Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is signposted RM23 Mazarron.

•   Take second exit off RM23 (exit number 7) signposted for Condado de Alhama.

•   Go right round the roundabout, take fourth exit up the palm tree lined boulevard into Condado de Alhama.

There have been a couple on the forums over the past few months but i have one typed up which I could attach to an e-mail if you send a PM with your e-mail address. It is the slightly longer route via the toll road but it is quiet and easy to follow. We have since gone on different routes which I will write down on our next journey.

Hi John

We use the same directions as posted by ptan. given to us by Debbie Payton.

However my advise, particulaly if this is your first visit  & more importantly if you are arriving in Murcia late at night

Is to be prepared to go around the islands at least twice. If you take the wrong slip road  on to a motorway as we did you cannot get off to turn around for ages

When coming out of the airport we looked for the blue & white sign, it was dark as we arived quite late. Not really concentrating we took the slip rd , yes it had a blue & white sign but , though we realised almost immediatly that the sign had not said Cartagena

it was too late. We eventually found our selves driving high up in the mountains.

Very scairy, Dark, Low cloud. Not a  journey I want to make again

We arrived two hours late. Very late.

So have a good trip but take care.

Jan

Hi,

We`ve been there a few times now and found that the easiest way to get from Alicante Airport to Condado is:

  • Turn from the airport towards the Murcia signs, this will get you on A7/E-15. Stay on this until you are getting to Murcia exits.
  • You will have to turn right along Murcia to be able to stay on the A7/E-15, the signs will now read Almeria/Granada. If you miss this you will be on the A 30. You will get another chance after a few kilometers if you miss the first one.
  • Drive towards Almeria/Granada and you will come to Alhama de Murcia, there will be signs telling you that you are closing in on this.
  • Take exit 627B. The sign is brown and says Bahia de Mazzaron.
  • Stay on this road which is RM2 until there is an exit for RM23 and Mazzaron.
  • On RM23 you will find a sign for Condado de Alhama on the right hand side. The rest is obviously easy

Even shorter version: Follow the A7/E-15 until the exit for Bahia de Mazzaron (627B) - Then RM2 until RM 23 and you are there...

The easy way is via the Toll Road

Come out of airport and go to AP7

Go to Cartagena

after a few minutes take exit 800 [ Murcia/ Almeria E-15]

This will merge again with AP7 [ going in a different direction!]

At exit 815 you go with signs for Almeria [I think also here  MU603/ Totana/ Mazarron

anyway you get on to the toll road which is very quiet

come off at Mazzaron and go inland signe posted Totana....and you will come to Condado.....circa 45 minutes for airport

I usually take toll road to Vera which is 11 € so it should be circa 7/8 €

A very easy route but for first timers it is always best to land in daylight as sometimes the signs can bea  bit misleading to the unwary

For 1st timers I agree  last time I did toll it was 5 euros, after a few days you will probably get used to area use other routes to go back. In the dark its easy to get lost.
