We had the same problem in that we had to delay completion back in September last year.   We got a letter from PW's legal department advising that our contract was being cancelled.  We put it in the hands of our solicitor and gave her Power of Attorney - we got at least another 4 weeks out of them.

At the end of the day they are the ones that need the money coming in  - scare tactics is all I would call it.  But I would advise that you put your soilicitor onto the case.

Hi karen, firstly I would have to totally agree with the comment from Mad Golfer  'scare tactics'  thats what they do,  we were in the same position last year with Polaris insisting we complete by the end of Aug 08 (earlier than we expected) or they will cancel our contract and with the exchange rate so poor it all seemed quite worrrying, however with the help of our solicitor Mr Juan Jose Arteaga from Iberlegal and an extremely helpful lady in the PW legal & completions department we managed to delay several times until 29th Jan this year (maybe a record), Mad Golfer is also correct, involve your solicitor straight away and keep in contact with PW and advise them on your progress, after all they really do want your completion money, if you need any of the contact details for the people I have mentioned please ask and I will gladly send them to you or anybody else who needs them, it worked for us. ..

regards

Dave & Sue

I agree with fellow posters about getting a solicitor to help sort things out. Also, keep communicating with them stating that you are doing your best to sort things out. We were pestered to complete last August and eventually signed on the dotted line in March.........!!!!!

Although we did have valid excuses I found that PW understood that we were doing our best to resolve. Like someone else said, it's in PW's interest to allow you some time but at the same time, they will end up wanting their money eventually and I do think that if you don't have a genuine reason, they are more pushey.

Good luck

Phil
