Hi

Our neibour has just called round . they have a 2 bed on Haciends & at the moment feels that Hacienda is condado`s poorer relative.

As yet they still do not have a shopping area & our Foro is much further advanced than theirs.

They have no sporting facilities. We have Jardin 6.

The supermarket on Hacienda is smaller than theirs & no immediate plans to increase the size.

& she thinks the surgery & its outside space is  larger than on Hacienda.

Forgot to ask what their community charges are. I know they have a meeting planed very soon as they are now self governing

I know money may always be an issue in the current  financial instability

but we do seem to be  better off in other ways

Jan

Hi Hamibabe,

I would hardly call what we have got regarding facilities as good - one shi*e overpriced bar & a shop & a couple of padle courts.  This Esater it could well be really busy on Condado - with nothing on site other than the surgery.

My glass is half-full, but we don't have anything to shout from the roof tops on yet

Nick

Hi all,

I agree with Nick, the facilites at the moment are far from great. When buying we chose condado because of all the geat things that were promised in the way of sports, golf and shopping and whilst I am ever hopeful that these facilites will come on board in the future, at the moment I feel we are being asked to pay high community fees for not very much in return.

Hi

I totally agree with Nick and Graham.  We cannot wait for the Foro to complete so at least we will hopefully have the choice of somewhere to eat and drink other than having to drive into Camposol or Mazaron.  With no link buses and difficulties with taxis we have very little choice at the moment.

With regards to sports facilities. golfing, gym - well we are still waiting!!!!

Hi,

I too am disapointed with the facilities, I completed on the 25th June last year and have only been once since(to furnish the place),instead I am spending my holidays in other resports with more facilities. Seems mad that I own a property in spain, yet I am paying for Hotels on the Costas or Tenerife.

Does anyone know when the Foro is opening, I have heard May, June or July, however would like to come out to Condado to see how the resort is coming along, but dont want to visit if my only facilities are one cafe/bar, a supermarket and a paddle tennis court.

I know it seems its taking a time for PW to pull it all together but I suppose we should be thankful Camposol is just down the road otherwise we'd all be a bit more stuck. Originally we thought we wouldnt even complete till Feb 2009 and that the original Foro wouldnt be quite ready even then- so on that basis we are better off than we expected because we are furnished and the apartment is usable. Likewise we didnt expect any golf until summer 2009 so maybe that'll be accurate. A bit of local transport would be a bonus though. I think once PW pulled completions forward so much there was always going to be a struggle to match the infastructure to the demand. I remember our agent saying that if we were buying to rent then we shouldnt have too high an expectation for the 1st year because it would take a while to get everything on line- and that was when we expected Feb 2009 for completion. Aside from the golf courses we're just hoping the Oasis will actually happen.

I totally agree with Jann. We have to be patient with Condado. First time I was at the site, in March 2007, there was absolutely nothing there, just flags, and they had just started with the underground infrastucture. Now, only two years later, they have already built an impressing amount of apartments and are about to finish the first golf course, the Foro and more sports facilities.

We completed in November, I have visited Condado a few times since, and even though I am missing the facilities (restaurants, a footie pub and internet broadband tops my wishing list!), I remind myself about the situation. In the recent financial climate we should be very happy with the progress so far.

If we look at what PW have actually builtduring  the last few years (Mar Menor, La Torre, El VAlle, Hacienda Riquelme and now CdA and Las Terazzas), we should be in no doubt about their intentions, ambitions and attention for details.

One prayer though: I hope the financial tide turns again so PW will be able to sell more properties, and complete their fantastic plans at CdA sooner rather than later. We got to be patient, but this will be great. Tell your friends!

Support your resort!

Kind regards,

Tom Erik, penthouse 13

Hi

I wasnt saying that what we have is Fantastic

what I was saying is that we do have more than Hacienda "Not a lot." I know.

but i`m sure there would have been more had Polarias not experienced the financial drought  that every one is feeling at the moment .

Fingers crossed the situation gets better soon.

Know what everyone is saying about lack of facilities but this always was a 10 year project which whilst ahead of the game has now probably stretched out to 20 years. As for PW then yes they can be seriously infuriating amongst other choice phrases but i still believe what we have got for our money is top class value - the place looks fantastic, sit back and compare what you have in the UK compared to what you have out there.

Anyway......................

Caravan park in North Wales (had one for 20 years, caravan, not the park itself) had well er just caravans and crap weather. But used to have BBQs (outside the van), beers in the fridge and kids running round the grass areas doing what kids do (annoying parents usually), loads of people got to know each other and became annual friends, shared a beer, food, laughter and the odd wife when things got boring, am sure CDA will be similar

When i stop in hotels i expect a swimming pool, bar, and a bit of entertainment, but usually after 1 night at said expensive bar with 'local' dancing and fire eating entertainment (usually includes some sweaty prat trying to get me to join in with some Hungarian folk dance when said sweaty is from Milton Keynes) then its off a wandering to find something different, and as for kids then they just want to chill with other kids, (whatever we think they don't play football, tennis etc in searing heat for 6 hours a night, tho loads will want to use the pool till 10 every night), lean on walls, look moody, whisper as us oldies pass by (i was a kid once you little buggers, I know what you said) and generally say ''WE'RE BORED, WHATEVA !''

CDA during the day in summer = swimming pool and nowt else (just like any other resort) - it'll be too hot to do anything else, locally you've loads of great beaches and a water park, once you hit evening then it's a choice between sitting out on your terrace eating your own home cooked food and drinking your own choice of drinks at reasonable prices with neighbours popping round to join you, drink your beer, eat your food, criticise your uncomfy garden furniture, bitch about some other neighbours and them in Jardin 8 (sic) then leave you to wash up before returning the following night.

Maybe one day we'll have some nice restaurants/pubs on site where they'll serve warm Amstel at €4 for 2/3rds of a pint after 30mins wait along with some expensive, undercooked, tasteless food which we'll put up with just to watch a live footy match that we wouldn't have watched if we were back at home.

You could of course drive to Mazzaron, sit out at the beautiful harbour front and watch the world go by with some decent vfm food and a much better view....... and stay sober for a night (yes i know its a challenge for me, but it's even worse not being able to drink on the plane coming over)  knowing you can get ratted the following night sat in your chills overlooking the gardens whilst fighting off the mozzies.

Golf, there are loads of local courses within an hour's drive, CDA would only ever be a base for golfers.

Somehow don't think the lack of tennis, paddleball, gym, indoor pool, golf course, restaurant, pubs, sky tv, internet, Macdonalds & Pizza Hut will bother me - I could get all that back here via my all inclusive £140 monthly Council Tax, £130 a month gas/lecky and £40 a month water rates, but i do get my swimming pool and manicured gardens included in that - oooopps dreaming again.

Glass more than half full, about to have my 4th hols at CDA since October, 2 more already booked and have thoroughly enjoyed em all, party on the 26th or 27th of this month at mine again, or is someone else volunteering this time ?

Once we get the golf course, it will be the tatty clubhouse, once we get the bars it will be the price/service, once we get the restaurants it will be the price/service/bad prawn, once we get the gym it'll be broken water fountain/dripping shower, what we've got is bloody great and compared to what I've got in England and what i have to pay for it then i know which place i look forwards to stopping in most.

Mañana

Well said Shampers.

Unfortunatly we brits have a bad reputation for constantly brawling. constantly moaning & constantly crying in our beer if our team loses.

Now I am not insinuating that every one is like that.

infact we have not met a moaner, a cryer or a brawler on the three visiys to condado

So its obvious we are all tared with the same brush as a small minority

So come one you guys give it a chance

Jan

Yup, cant wait. We leave at 4am in the morning and I cant wait to see the place again. Got extended family queueing to visit through the year- they have to get past us first though! None play golf  and as long as there's a pool the kids will be happy and the rest of us just want to kick back and chill. I am looking forward to eventually driving the golf buggy though!

Husband's sooo fussy we rarely eat out in Spain or anywhere outside the UK ( he thinks MacDonalds is fine dining) so we'll be on a BBQ search this visit. Once the restaurants are open you'll all see me peering through the restaurant windows enviously whilst he searches out a bar that sells pork scratchings!

Ps- why did Shampers pick on Jardin 8 , we can be sociable too ( possibly a bit sedate till the red wine kicks in)

Brilliant Post Dave, brought a smile to my face!  Wish I could be out there for Easter, and your party - of course if I was there would happily offer my place - and NO, that doesn't mean you can hold it there in my absence and leave all the bottles etc. for my next visit.

I love being out at CDA, and agree with you, even when complete, I won't do all my socialising in the on-site bars/restaurants, won't play all my golf on the CDA course etc. etc!  Arleady in place are Mazarron, and some nice bars and restaurants, beaches (too numerous to mention), and the Espuna - will be happy for more facilities to arrive, but like you my glass already has a healthy measure in place.

Enjoy the trip over.

Ted
