Hi - I am wondering if anyone has actually fitted an LCD television onto the wall yet?  I have bought one but the walls seem so thin I am not sure whether they would support it?  Any adviuce gratefully received.  Thanks.  Arlene

Hi Arlene,
I was talking to George (the handyman from Mazzaron) today and he mentioned that there is a small gap between the plasterboard and the concrete walls and he is even finding it difficult to fit curtain poles. He has to put some plaster in between the plasterboard and the concrete walls to get them to hold so you may have to do something similar to support the LCD TV mounting.

Oh no, the dreaded plasterboard fixing aids !!!!!,

Nightmare when you want to fix something that needs to be a bit substantial. Also had difficulty with fixing things as light as curtain poles back in the UK (helping out for a friend, I have real brick & block walls!). I would advise anyone to get the best special type fixing plugs you can for this purpose or better still get to the concrete section behind the plasterboard otherwise your telly will be hanging off in as soon as someone tries to change the tilt etc.

Regards,

If you want to fix to the plaster board you can buy twister plaster board screws which is a plug that looks like a giant screw that is screwed straight into the board and then a screw that comes with the plug is then scewed into the plug  (this doesn't sound very clear does it!). These are great for curtain poles, lights, small tv brackets etc but for heavier items you can use a frame fixing which is a large plug and screw that bridges the cavity between the blocks and the paster board.
These fixings can be found over here in bulders merchants a lot cheaper than B&Q etc and are what we use on new housing in this country and are ideal becase the partments are built in much the same way as our houses
I hope this makes sense, Harvey
