Over the last few years, as we have been building up to the day when our house finally is ready, we have visited a number of places for potential furniture, white goods, electrical items etc.
Appreciating that we all have different tastes, needs and budgets it  may be useful to fellow buyers as they prepare to complete, to share experiences in respect to worthwhile places to visit, service and experiences as part of furnishing their properties.
We have personally found the industrial estates such as Antas and Vera to have some good selection of shops for furniture, we were a bit disappointed with Macnights a place near Turre for beds as it didn't live up to the hype.
Anyone else ready to kick off?

Hi

Unfortunately the shop we bought our furniture from has changed owner so I don't feel I can recommend it. However - for everything else.....

Murcia and Almeria have the large stores Leroy Merlins, Ikea etc - but I wanted to decorate and furnish  our villa with a bit more individuality. But a lot depends on whether you are going to rent out the property (and  therefore want something reasonably priced and easily replaced  ) or live in it permanently.

Personally we have used the stores in Aguilas for furniture, bedding, new kitchen. It may not have the huge stores  - but for quality , price and helpfulness I prefer to shop there.

The electrical shop in Terreros ( sorry can't remember the name - but next door to the Heladeria) is great.  They may not be the cheapest  but are generally competitive - and they are very helpful indeed.
Also - anyone with a sat tv will know that after a few days of high winds the dish may 'shift' a little and the signal is lost. They have a little gizmo which enables them to put it back on track.

Lopez's in Mojacar sells everything for repairs. decorating, gardening etc....plus garden furniture , household wares, electricals and white goods. THe store is packed with very useful and reasonably priced stuff. We have spent a small fortune there - any screws, piping, attachments that any handy man needs is there!!!!  BUT be warned -  I have heard that the electical goods are occasionally faulty.  We have bought a couple of minor items ( heater  and fan) which did not work. They replaced them , no problem, but I'd rather not have the hassle.

Also beware of garden furniture, from  any outlet. For  such an 'outdoorsy' kind of country we were amazed at the low quality and high cost of patio furniture. The plastic sets may look robust etc- but out in the hot sun the plastic becomes brittle and snaps. We have ended up buying the outdoor furniture in the UK and taking them over in the back of the car, (we have an estate) and on the return journey we fill up with tiles , and wine and ceramics and wine  and beer and wine.
