As we have only had photo's to look at since seeing the show apartments in February and have also spent a lot of time scouring the 'net for furniture for our 'bijou' living room.  Can anyone share  how they have/ or plan to furnish the lounge. I'm torn between 2 settee's, a settee and two chairs a 3 seat settee and 1 armchair by the door- advice welcomed.

We thought the apartment was a bit smaller than we first imagined it was going to be but it's Ok.

All the furniture planners have the sofa under the window and a TV unit along the back wall then another chair near the door. There was also table and 4 chairs and a coffe table. The overall look was there was too much in there in my opinion.

I thought the sofa looked a bit small and out of the way so I'm having a bigger sofa along the back  wall, a long tv unit under the window and a pouff to match the sofa.  At the moment we're not having a dining table, hoping to eat outside mostly.  I didn't want to clutter the place up too much so we're going to wait untill we get there and see how it looks then add to it.

Like Karen the apartment was a bit smaller than I imagined, isn't Bijou a nice word  ( what's Spanish for Bijou? Joya? )

With regard to furniture is guess it's down to who you see using the apartment.  Will you be renting or not?
My opinion is that it I should aim it at two couples.  In which case I need comfortable seating for four.
So my options are basically  two settees or one settee and a chair.   On a purely personal basis I would rather go for two two-seater settees rather than a three seater and a chair,  or if it would fit in without looking clamped one three-seater and one two-seater.  My only thing against the settee and chair idea is probably just me being weird.  If you have two couples, but only a three-seater and a chair then one person would have to sit with the other couple on the settee whilst thier partner has the chair ( probably the man ).  I would find it preferable if we could sit as two couples.

So two settees, where to put them?

The polaris plans -http://www.polarisworld.com/polarisworld/resources/Image/Resorts/Viviendas/Condado_Alhama/Jardines/Planos_Genericos/mini/CA_Jardines_Planta_1.jpg  show a three seater under the window and a two seater 90 degrees to it between the wall and kitchen worktop.  Having been to the show house, I'm not sure there's enough room for this layout, but maybe with a smallish two seater.  Like Karen I think the alternative would be two two seaters one with it's back to the kitchen worktop and the second along the wall with the TV under the window.

Oh decisions, decisions..

Phil

Hi All

Like Phil not keen on having three and one configuration.

We are probably going for a 3 seater in the window and two chairs something like tub chairs or comfy chairs with narrow arms, which must be comfortable. Small corner TV unit possibly glass, nest of tables against the wall instead of a coffee table so we can keep the floor area as open as possible and a rub on the floor. Dinning area glass table and chairs which folds quite narrow again to keep the appearance of space when not in use.

I have a 3 seater sofabed under the window, and a 2 seater sofa across the gap between kitchen and front door, tv unit by wall, it is ok for space, but wouldn't say roomy!! - haven't tried a rub on the floor yet, but sounds fun!!!

You can’t beat a good rub on the floor we have had one in every house we have owned, maybe even more than one. Carol I would have thought cleaning the rub would be part of your standard service?

Thanks for all the advice. A' rub on the floor' whatever next!

We are keener on a 3 seater in the window bay but it'll have to be slimline and I really wanted to put a 2 seater between the doorway and the breakfast bar but think it may be too tight. Still thinking about this one.

That was our original intention - a three seater under the window and a two seater between the door and breakfast but thought it would be a bit of a tight squeeze and might look a bit cluttered.  The first impression I had when we went into the show apartments was that they were not particularly well planned for the size of them and had too much furniture in.  It's a personal choice as with everything but we decided the best option was to go for a sofa bed under the window with a leather swivel chair and side table next to the door and then another tub chair in the main bedroom which can be carried through to the lounge if there are four people.  We also took into consideration that most of the time people would probably be sat either up on the terrace, or on the balcony outside the front door, or at the "watering hole"!!!

Whatever people choose, I am sure everyone's apartments will look lovely - at least they will all be different!

Hello Everyone

We are new to this forum    We are Jeremy and Valerie and have apts 1463/4 on Jardine 13.  We completed on the 4th of July.  While we were there we took the measurements and on our return did scaled drawings of both apts (3 and 2 bed above).  Have since measured the furniture and done cut outs to the same scale.  This helped us to decide how the furniture fits into the apts (What else would you expect a builder to do )  We have just had our air con installed by Polar Air and cannot wait to return at the end of September   We look forward to meeting all of our new neighbours and sharing a glass or two with you

Regards

Jeremy & Valerie

Hi Jeremy and Val,

you are not alone although I marked out the lounge with tape in the garden and tried to create furniture shapes  with more tape. Not sure what the neighbours thought I was doing! Did realise we wont get in the snooker table our lads want!!

Hi Jan & Mike

The neighbours must have thought you had lost it, we were trying to measure it out in our lounge  to start with, climbing over furniture etc.

Hi Jeremy and Val

We're also in Jardin 13 (J1354) and are out from 23rd to 30th September so hope to meet up with a few people then. So far we've only ordered a sofa bed from Polaris World (think that's all we'll be buying from there at their prices though!) so will be trying to get everything else sorted in the week we are there - we're in for a busy week!

Very jealous of all the talk of meeting up for vino on all the threads, I'm 4.5 months pregnant so no booze for me for a while

Debbie & Jim
