I know there has been a lot of interest in Hacienda Halt being opened for use, to pick up trains here and there - which would be very useful.   However I've just realised that you can get trains from Balsicas all over the place,  up to Murcia (to avoid the parking nightmare), to Cartagena,  Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and many more - and Balsicas is pretty much on our doorstep.

In case anyone's interested - here's the link to the Renfe website:  http://www.renfe.es/horarios/english/index.html

Hi All,
I wonder if the new Airport at Corvera will be on the rail line when its open?  This would mean that visitors who are not keen on driving could get a train to Balsicas, or directly to HR if the station opens, there is a Taxi service at Balsicas.

There may well be a link to the Cartegena - Murcia line from Corvera , but I suspect it will have to wait until the new AVE high-speed rail line is built and link to that...which unfortunately is not proposed to go through Hacienda.

I dont think that a rail passenger stop, not that I think there will be one , at Hacienda will do anything for visitors or owners. Everyone needs a car as its very impractical without one...HR is in the middle of nowhere....isolated. Can you really imagine folks getting off at the station with cases etc...and having a 2 -3 km walk to their apartment. Can't see it sorry!

If I was using it to go to Murcia I would need to drive my car from my apartment and park near the HR entrance to catch it....so I need a car anyway just to get around the resort.

ColatLT

Bit negative that about the train station.

Perhaps a taxi might be needed or a meet & greet arrangement with a keyholder who could meet people at the station.

There are a number of people who dont want to drive in Europe, want a hire car, cant drive or too young etc. So a decent local taxi service, trains from Riquelme Station, Buses by Polaris & Local Operator will give residents & guests multiple options to get round the area.

I would expect all of these to materalise over time. The sooner the better. But we should be asking for them in the meantime.

BTW where are on HR?

Totally agree with you Mozz 72. The world is changing in many ways and we need to take this on board. Reduced car driving and increased use of public transport is already on the agenda of many. So lets be positive and help get things moving in the right direction open the station. No one is stopping those who wish to continue driving. I am told that the vast majority of locals living in Sucina have also been trying to get the station open for some time surely we can support them in their efforts.

I also agree with Woods and Mozz 72. Also if you think on a larger scale we may, (in the not too distant future hopefully) be able to catch a fast train to Madrid for a day's sightseeing or footie if journey times are not too long. Just think how cool that would be if you could get off at HR with only a short journey back to your apartment. If this facility was available it would add to the marketability of the resort in my opinion.

Not exactly trains, but does anyone know aprox. how much is the fare Taxi from Murcia Airport to HR. seven of my friends are coming over shortly and do not want to drive. Seven people plus luggage probably means two Taxi's.
Is there a bus service to Sucina from the Airport? I know its a bit impracticle with luggage, but Taxi's will be expensive, I guess.
     Anyone any ideas.

I am sure Polaris do a meet and greet service from San Javier airport with a mini bus.  With the right noises and incentives it wouldn't be difficlut to get them to provide an on resort shuttle type service.  Whilst I agree that the station would be a huge benefit to some, those wanting to explore the area will definitiely need a car.  This is why we also need to keep pushing to get the resort town centre and other facilities up and running asap, so people don't feel the need to have to leave the resort.

What's the latest on the sports centre and town centre?  Anyone know.  Last time I spoke to Resortalia Polaris were still waiting for the licence to start building it ?????  Assuming they even get the licence they then said 18 months build time.  This is what happens when you renovate historic sites.  In any case, completely unnacceptable.  The town centre and other facilities should have been the first things finished before the apartments were completed.  I know we have had this discussion before and I don't want to moan on, but hopefully you can see my point.

Grumpy Ken.

I have searched the web and Spanish pages etc but all I can find is a historical article and another one saying that some work is to install an updated signal system on the line following a crash some years ago.  I think the activity at Riquelme-Sucina is only that I am afraid, but I hope I am wrong. Its strange the station platform sign is new - just for driver information or a possible re-opening?

I always hire a car but a train to Murcia (and Balsicas etc the other way) would mean an evening out and a few beers-wines without having to worry about driving.  Also a local legal taxi service to Sucina from the gatehouse would be great.

I did look at the bus service (LATBUS 45) that still goes from Estacion Riquelme (presumably a leftover from when the station was open) to Sucina but there is only two a day and nothing in the evening!

Just a little positive update about the station.   This is from Colin Archer part of the HRGR community sub-committee for roads and rail links.

.........the station, when it finally opens, will likely not be a manned stop anyway.
No other news on when .... but things are progressing and the noises are positive to our requests.
