Does anyone know what's happened at Ochando Golf?  Before HR golf course was opened,  we used to go down to the driving range at Ochando - and admired the 500 odd palm trees that had been planted along the road leading to the range.  We looked at a couple of the show homes there - which were pretty nice - and we saw the developmet of the 27 holes of the golf course progressing,  and then for the last year - 18 months since the road up from St Javier has been improving - we've wondered how to get to the front gate at Ochando - and if it is progressing at all?   I'm not so interested in the housing,  but the golf course looked as though it would be spectacular - but I can't see anything anywhere about what is happening there.

anyone has an update all all?  or like my husband - enjoys a bit of offroading to get to the front gate?  We're over there in a week or two - and it's been nagging at me a bit!

For HR - it all looks like it's finally coming together doesn't it?  Can't wait for my first g&t on the terrace at the Dovecote!

Thanks for any feedback.

Just thought I'd put an update here about the Town Centre - we've just returned from two glorious weeks on the Resort,  and although there didn't appear to be much building activity during the first week,  during the second week it all seemed to take off.

There were cement lorries arriving,  lots of roofing guys tiling, other building deliveries going on,  They have flattened out one large area for the car park - which is virtually opposite the current pro-shop.

We spoke with one of the pro's who said that the town centre would be finished by the end of June - because the Spanish PGA had given them a deadline to get the final facilities in place,  or they would not give the course PGA status.  He said there would be teams of workmen coming in to finish the work.....  Anyone over there at the end of May might like to post an update?  And on through June??

This chap said that the plans looked great,  with a lovely terrace overlooking the 9th and 19th greens.... shame we can't all see a copy of the plans!

We did manage to scramble into the area one evening,  but there is still a huge amount of work to do - so we shall just have to wait and see....

Weather was superb for our fortnight,  hot and sunny, with a light breeze. Perfect!

We were thoroughly 'done' when we rented via DYS,  as you pay at the airport in €.  The price quoted in € looked good, but what we actually paid on our credit card in £ ended up being much higher because of the exchange rate.

For our next trip I called Auriga Crown direct at the airport and they offered us a much better deal that I was getting on any of the online sites.

She also said we wouldn't have to pay for a full tank, as long as we took it back at the same level we collected it at.... We're going to try it out.

Happy Christmas to all!

Forum thread: BEWARE OF GOLDCAR

I guess once the excitement has died down,  and folk start to visit and enjoy the resort and the area - the forum posts start to slow down too.   The trouble with many of the forum posts is that so many of them are negative and moaning about what isn't right or finished on the resort,  rather than how great things are!

I was over there at the beginning of May for the bank holiday weekend for 5 days,  and my husband was over for nearly 2 weeks (lucky chap!) and we had a wonderful time.  It was hot and sunny,  quiet and peaceful,  and so very relaxing.

So,  the pool maintenance company have lost their contract - and some of the pools are closed for various reasons,  the bins were unsightly and potentially smelly because they were all up at ground level until the sealing work was completed,  but we went for a long walk all around the resort each evening as the sun was going down - and could see many buildings occupied - lights on and people coming and going - and we really feel at home there.  Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine (or even a cup of tea in the mornings) is like a dream come true.

The golf is great,  the beaches are superb, there are many lovely places to visit - both town and country - and we can't wait until we go back again.

I think the committees are working very hard on all our behalfs,  and anyone who has a talent to offer would be greatly welcomed I think.  Ideally I'd like to be there for a month at a time - but that's not possible at the moment.  We grab a few days here and there as often as we can,  and if you book well in advance - you can get some great deals.   it's surprising how well rested you feel after 4 or 5 days away.

Here's to many Happy Vitisits to come!

When we were over there last August,  we spoke with lots of folk over there with children and non golfers who thought it was great to have the pool nearly to yourself all day,  and be so close to the beaches etc - without all the crowds and hoards of other holidaymakers.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!
