We have been told that we can only use our communal pool in July & August when the lifeguard is in situ, according to Andalucian law.

Has anyone else come across this problem? If yes, is there a way around it? Any advice will be gratefully received.

Hi lewjan62. Regarding pool open times ,about 2001 approx they brought in some new laws regarding use /services of community pools  we had to change all our plumbing, install toilets, there was this talk of lifeguards on site but that never happend theres many parts involved with this new law such as size of the pool, the amount of apartments /villas that use it ,plus of course open times we know of some pools that were reduced in size to meet the new Regs.or they enclosed it with a lockable fence( that solved it for many as nobody had a key thats true really)you will not find many pools with lifeguards if you look around ,we had the feeling in our community that this law was only to create work for the builders as it suddenly gave them lots of work with this deadline looming up, if your administrator is telling you this I would go to your local council offices and ask them about ( but dont tell them your address) or ask around I dont thing a Spanish community would take any notice of this law,it cost our community 25,000 euroes for this work just to change the pipes and chemical doseing so you can see it was big business, hope this helps your problem. Regards rosi n
