Hi,

My father has a pay as you go Spanish mobile. He has just arrived on holiday and he can´t use the phone (Spanish recorded message) He has also been told it cannot be topped up. I know I registered phone with my address months ago when he bought it. What happens if it needs to be re-registered?

Thanks,

Jane

Jane, he needs to take it to a mobile phone shop and register the phone again.  He can then keep the number and have his line up and running again.

Yes, phone owners have up to 6 months to register their phones.

As we are permanent residents, I registered our Spanish mobile phones in July this year .... but I overhead someone in the pub say that you have to re-register every 6 months.  Is this true?

No, that's not true, although I think with some networks you do have to use the phone at least once every 6 months just to keep it active.
