 Hi,

We have read that there are a number of bilingual state schools throughout Spain now, but are finding information on this very tough to come across. We were wondering if anyone has any information on these schools, or any experience with them. Our children will be 9 and 5 for the next school year, and are planning to settle in Benalmedena. The article said there were many throughout the Malaga area, where they were started as a pilot program, but the success of them has seen them spread throughout Spain now. After hours of researching, and limited Spanish (for now), we haven't been able to find much more information on these schools.

We have no problem enrolling the children in 100% Castillian, but thought a bilingual school might make integration a bit easier, while keeping up with the children's English studies.

If anyone has any information regarding a good summer course for the children to prep their Spanish before school, we would be very grateful. We're arriving in May, and would love to have the children in a some sort of course or day camp if this type of thing is available.

Looking forward to landing,

Jenn & John

Thankyou for your reply, mariadecastro. The info on that site is helpful.

We're looking forward to many of the changes in the school system -- anyone know of any particulars regarding registeration that we might want to be aware of to save some grief?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jenn & John

Registrations starts around April. You need to apply on time.

Hi Jenn and John

My daughter currently attends a private bi-lingual nursery  and pre school in Benalmadena called Costa Kinder Care ( they have a website ). I'm pretty sure they run a summer school and they are great with lanugages too ... anyway their summer school may be an option for your 5 year old, not sure what age it goes up too. They also run after school Spanish lessons throughout the year.....

Thanks so mcuh for the info... we'll be sure to check out their site.

Glad to hear you're happy with their services. We're hoping the few months' lessons ahead of school should give them an easier time starting classes.

Getting closer, one shovel full of snow at a time....
