Hi There, My wife and I bought an Apartment in Spain in the Year 2000, we go there for a Month 3 times every Year since, just love the place we call it paradise, would like to get your opinion, because of Covid 19 is it safe to go there at the moment, wearing a face mask in 30C must be hell, and then when you come back home you must self isolate for 2 Weeks. the flight going out are only 30% full. Ryanair are flying from Dublin to Alicante for €5 amazing stuff......

Obviously depends on where you are going. The northern regions, Madrid, Aragon, Catalonia, La Mancha etc, seem to be getting most of it. Same as some parts of Valencia but south of Alicante not so much.

Just as safe here as anywhere I would say. Try to avoid large crowds if possible, the face masks are annoying but, to be honest, after 10 minutes or so you seem to get used to them. Big towns seem quite busy but the smaller ones are pretty empty at the moment.

The bars are also closed now until the 21st September. Only those places licenced to sell food are open which means you can just go there for a drink, Masks to be worn whenever you get up from the table, like going to the loo etc.

Do you have to quarantine in Ireland as well? That and going through the airports would be the annoying thing for me.

The number of cases are shooting up in Spain but that could possibly due to the fact they are testing so many and loads who wouldn't have shown symptoms are now being classed as positive.

So, is it safe? As said, as safe as anywhere I should think. Life appears normal except for the face masks and hand washing when entering anywhere. Much quieter than usual in most places but wear the face mask, wash your hands regularly, keep your distance and avoid crowds. Chances are very low you'd catch anything but take precautions.

Do your research, you can get all the facts on COVID 19 in Spain on the internet.

https://www.spainenglish.com/2020/09/04/coronavirus-spain-4-sept/

If you were travelling from Burnley, Blackburn or Bradford to the Balearic Islands Spain you would be at less risk from COVID 19.

Perhaps your greatest risk of COVID 19 infection is the flight. I do not understand why COVID 19 testing is not done as a pre flight routine. It only takes one passenger to spread the virus to everyone on the plane. Maybe each country has no concern how much of the virus arrives in another and that is why we have the silly unenforceable quarantine requirements and tourists reluctance to travel.

The important thing is not to let your guard down.  Whenever you're planning to go out have a plan to minimise the risk - obviously take the right gear, but chose your time when you can - particularly for shopping, supermarkets are empty at certain times of day - which is a good start.
