Hi Ladies & Gents

I was wondering if anyone could help. Next month I plan on getting a ferry from the UK to Santander then driving from there to Alicante. I will be towing a 4 birth caravan the whole way. I was wondering if there are any tips or things that I need to be aware of ect? My car will have tax, mot and insurance (all uk issued of course). Is there anything I need to do or get ect?

Any help appreciated.

Kind regards

James

You will need third party insurance for the trailer caravan as a minimum whilst being towed. It's obligatory in Europe. A caravan is regarded as a seperate vehicle. The weight of the caravan must be shown on the policy documents.

Thank yoy mickyfinn, do you know where I could begin to look to get that? I read that over 750kg I have to have seperate insurance for the caravan/trailer all together! Mine weights over 1T!! lol.

Most insurance companies will do it. Try the Caravan Clubs. Your problem might be how long you want to it for in Europe. That weight limit is standard in most car policies that's why you need an extended policy for Europe if you dont already have it covered. A caravan of 750kgs is very small. You only require it whilst towing.

Oh and does anyone know of any good sites I can pitch my caravan on in Alicante? I'll be looking at 2/3 weeks maybe.
