I need to insure a Uk registered car so that I can use it for 4months in England. I am a Spanish resident with a UK licence. I have been unable to find an insurance company
in England that will give me a quote. Has anybody got a solution?

I would check the insurance, I assume you have now. I know for sure 25 years ago, it may have changed (although I doubt it) that under an EU Directive all insurances in the EU must include as standard obligatory cover (that's third party in UK ) for the duration of the policy, for use in all EU countries.

Yes but I think there is a max length of time overseas for any one trip, and I think it's quite low like 30 days as standard. Certainly not 4 months.

It was for sure, for the total length of the policy i.e you could go for up to a year.. As I said I do not know if it have changed as I have had no need to know for myself for many years.
PS I just checked my car policy with Caser, It say for all EU for the duration of the policy the same way as in Spain.. There is no time restriction
PPS The policy with Linea Directa for my Motorcycle says the same too.
