In my blog, we have been discussing some of our favourite poems and I thought maybe we could broaden this out to the whole of the Forum (it may raise the tone, although of course I'm not saying that's needed).  Maybe people can cut and paste their favourite ones here for our delectation.  So far, we've done a bit of Dylan Thomas, Robert Burns, WB Yeats, Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen.  It would also be good if anyone knows any good Spanish ones.  (if no-one makes a contribution, one might assume the Forum is lacking in culture)

To get the ball rolling, this is my favourite Dylan Thomas one:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Here you go guys - a Spanish poem provided by Patricia over on the Blogs section. Take some time out and ponder on life (it's good for you):

Noche de cuatro lunas
y un solo árbol,
con una sola sombra
y un solo pájaro.

Busco en mi carne las
huellas de tus labios.
El manantial besa al viento
sin tocarlo.

Llevo el No que me diste,
en la palma de la mano,
como un limón de cera
casi blanco.

Noche de cuatro lunas
y un solo árbol,
En la punta de una aguja,
está mi amor ¡girando!

Federico García Lorca
