I am thinking of restoring a speed boat as a project, the problem i have if any is the speed boat as been in a yard for quite a few years and i am not sure who the owner was.
The guy in the yard took the boat as a debt and i have no reason to disblieve him as i have known him for sometime, but he as not got any paperwork to go with this
He would like to see it removed from is yard and i would like to restore it. but i do not want any complications further down the line so any advice would be great.

There should be a registry where you can check who is the legal owner
I think you need martime and coastguard agency? MCA?
It is possible it was given to him as a debt but the paperwork just not completed therefore he is not legal owner - perhaps he can get it sorted for you before you undertake anything
