 Because of:

-Weather

-Gastronomy

-Wine

-People

-Feasts

-Beaches

-Mountains

-Traditions

-Except over exploited areas, still affordable

-Except over exploited areas: pure life

-North of Morocco- Africa

- Most spoken language after chinese

It's also the most corrupt region in Spain, so not a great place to invest your money in my opinion.

I know someone who has been ripped off in the off plan scandals, to the tune of 90,000 euro.

He still bought another property in Spain and has retired there.

I asked him why?

He replied:  hates the way the way the UK has gone and " I just like the lifestyle here in Spain"

There is no such a thing as a perfect place, and scams do occur everywhere, unfortunately.  I would always be extra wary of buying off-plan.  Sure, some have done it successfully, but it is an area fraught with difficulty IMO.  In short, I would not do it myself.

Andalucía has a lot going for it, as Maria points out in her OP.

No - Spain is not a good place to invest. Harsh taxes being one reason.

Also it was investors that destoyed the place.

But by all means buy  to enjoy everything that Spain has to offer.

But you need to keep your eyes peeled becuase there are many sharks and I don't mean in the water.
