Can anyone help me to decide which company has the best offer for internet connections. I am presently with Telefonica with a landline and a modem, which started off costing around 45 to 50 euros a month, including the internet connection, the line, all provincial calls free, and VAT but it has been steadily rising and this last month was 73 euros. I don't really make any calls on the phone, except locally as I have a mobile. I can't understand why it is so much more,I've been with Telefonica, now Movistar foe at least 20 years and I am seriously thinking of changing to another company now. Can anyone let me know too if there's any benefit from having the modem linked to your mobile? Would that be cheaper as there is no line to pay for ?

You can 1/2 that cost by threatening to leave and get 6MB at the same time.

I am no expert in this area but when telefonica refused to give me more fixed lines they gave me a campo phone which are the number 952 11 ?? ??. It worked off mobile technology and had many limitations including poor coverage so I got rid of it.

But there are many options these days and you might want to check if these mobile type lines will work with faxes & answering machines etc and if the speed they are advertising is what you will get etc and if it's constant (especially if you have kids using PS3 etc!)

That's why I stay with fixed line and ADSL and in truth I have always had good service and good speeds from telefonica but I also complain on cost but I don't want it to be a case out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Last year I switched mobile contracts to vodafone from movistar and of course then they harrass you to come back to which I always reply you didn't do much for me when I was with you!!!

From my own personal experience, give Vodafone a wide berth. Signed up with them in February this year, still have no service and am being billed by them and Telefonica!!

Mark, you say you are being billed for the service but are you paying for it?

I am being billed about 12€ pm at the moment for which no- one can tell me what it is for. I was given a router and dongle and told that once I usd the dongle connection, VF would take the line from Telefonica and provide the service. At the moment, I am paying about 60€ pm to Telefonica and the 12€ to Vodafone. I can use the usb dongle and get speeds of 1/2 meg over 2G which is no good fr most applications, or 12 meg with the existing TF. If it isn't sorted this week while I am here, the router will be going back and the direct debit cancelled. It has been a farce.
