Hi Lynda,
Our bank manager told us there were plans for a big shopping mall along the straight bit of road after the Bouganville Roundabout.
Also there is to be a brand new fast train rail link put in very close around our area. That could be good for getting to some of the major cities.
Cheers
Brian

I believe that Lynda is talking about a shopping complex adjacent and nearby to Al Andalus Thalassa ,there is a huge board ,restaurants ,shops ,bars all in the pipe-line ,the area is going to explode. It will be wonderful to have a drink and be able to walk home in 3 minutes.
The area is on the left going towards the beach ,it is barren land ,with surrounding area landscaped and car-parking allocated,3 minutes walk from my apartment.

Ah ok.
A lot must have happened since we were out in Feb then. Havn't seen that or heard of it before.
We are out on the 25th May, so obviously have some catching up to do.
Cheers for that
Sorry Lynda for the false info....

Hi
When we were out there last someone (can't remember for my life who) mentioned that there was due to be a large commercial centre by the Bouganvillas roundabout (possibly with a cinema etc). I would imagine the plans could be for that.
In addition to this a while ago we had been advised in the Pueblo Salinas sales office that there was planning for a commercial and sports centre on Al Andalus Hill - hence the empty car parks and pre-built piazza etc. We hadn't been expecting anything for a few years yet so it is encouraging to see some movement with this despite the current property scares. Will be great to be able to take a walk to a shop for a paper and to a bar/restaurant at night!

I have found the following announcement on the White Coast Investments web site -
The last 7th february 2008 the WCI has completed a new successful deal. An adquisition of a new land in Vera, completing a total of 46.044 sqm providing the control of the sector.
It doesn't state where but reading through the link that Temp1 provided, it suggests to me that it is the land down by the Bouganvilla roundabout on the right hand side as you continue on to Mojacar - might be wrong though!

So this would be the deserted plot behind the garden centre, Jardins Haro, then? Great garden centre by the way, lovely plants and patio ornaments

Okay, so we're not all fans of fast food outlets but doesn't this bring the best of both worlds and give us more options?
Thalassa is in an enviable position, being within reach of the proposed complex but far enough away for it not to be offputting to more discerning clients and owners. That way, both types of rental guest are kept happy. Let's face it, the more we can offer to raise ourselves above the competition, the better it is for us. I know some will say that there will be more traffic, rubbish and stereotypical yobs abroad drawn to our little piece of heaven but better infastructure and facilities are needed to keep people coming back. The advent of the AVE is a great piece of news too .. let's hope it comes off

That's all right then! Presumably our little piece of heaven is only for the short term.

Thanks very much for adding the link Temp1. It made very interesting reading and have to give credit to my bank manager who called it spot on.
I think when we all looked at this area in the first place, it was being pushed as an up and coming area. So i guess we should expect this sort of thing to happen. I think it will be good for the area along with the AVE situation.
On a more local point to Al-Andalus. It will be nice eventually to have a few facilities to be able to walk to.
