Guys,

I may have missed an earlier discussion regarding security shutters.

Are there security shutters on the patio doors of the Jardines or are they only on the windows?

I've studied the photos but can't see any. Hopefully someone thats been to the show apartments can help.

I was told when I signed up, that there would be electrically operated shutters on all patio doors.

Cheers

Midge

Hi Midge,

I was also told on our inspection visit that we would have electric shutters over the patio doors, I think i'll have to phone polaris and ask about this. We're in garden 9 formerly 8, ground floor, any neighbours out there.

Somewhere back on the threads ailmnoty did a report of what he found and asked about when he visited the site I'm sure he included information about shutters. I think its a thread called 'visit to condado' from early February .

I'm sure that shutters were mentioned when we looked at the plans on our apartment

Will e-mail Polaris World and find out

May hold back on furnishing our apartment for a couple of months as most of the apartments are not going to be occupied for a while and I wouldn't imagine Polaris World will have security there until everything is up and running

Another forum I visited the other day mentioned changing your locks before you start furnishing your apartment?

Will post a reply when I get an answer from Polaris World

I beleive shutters are now just on the bedroom windows only, similar to Hacienda where everyone was told they were getting them by there agents but Polaris aren't putting them in. As they aren't in your contract there's not much you can do.

I've heard various reasons for this from not wanting the place to look like a ghost town when there's not many people there (when all shutters are down) to them wanting to show golf events on the tv, which wouldn't look good to the viewing public if the resort appeared to be shut up and all shutters closed.

Also the shuttters aren't designed for security they are just there to keep the rooms they are in cool and keep the sun out, they can easily be forced up. As for the locks I would suggest always getting them changed as they are that many keys going around the different builders who have access to your property impossible to get them all back.

We'd already considered the lock situation but changing locks via a locksmith can be expensive and you could just add a further locks to the front door and accessible windows and may be able to do that yourselves.

The shutter information is a similar problem to our being told there'd be a chest of drawers in each wardrobe and each bathroom would have a bowl and table style sink affair and there would be an electric point in the bathroom. Plus expecting the 2 bed lounge to be wider because there  was going to be a breakfast bar width top rather than a cupboard sized work surface in the ktichen. All part of off plan puchasing no doubt.

As mentioned before by ailmnoty, there are no shutters on the front of the apartments on either 2 or 3 bed.  The front dor is double security locked - excellent, but the windows are an issue.  Depending on how security consious you are there is an option (not through Polaris) to have the window tinted.  This allows the sun and heat to reflect so as not to damage youyr furniture but also acts as a reflective deterrent for nosey parkers lookig in - it's like a mirror effect.

there are examples on other Polaris sites if you wish to see them in action, let me know.

Has anyone priced-up for the 'missing' shutters yet?  Would be interested.  At this rate of spending though my apartment won't have owt worth nicking in it so probably shouldn't be worrying about would-be tea-leafs anyway.......
