I went to the   Aeropuerto San Javier de Murcia on Saturday on the AP 7 the "new " road  it took 1hr.15mins and cost ,11.50 euros  dead easy, join it  in Antas and straight off at the airport no messing ....I came back on  the E15 the "old way" there are a few turns to make,  it took me 1hr 30mins and was free!!!!!!..........it depends on how important   15-20 mins and 11.50 euros is.  If is was your first time here and you were to arrive  in the dark  then use the AP7 and pay,  otherwise there's nothing wrong with the E15

Thanks very much.  Dont fancy getting lost. Just a word of warning to those with Tomtoms. If you have upgraded your UK tomtom to have a Spanish or european map. Make sure you select the correct map whist you are in Spain. Worse still, dont forget to change it back when you get back to the UK . Other wise you may be driving around for some time whilst Tomtom tries to find your destination. (It wont get you there at all).

Hi Lee and Nicola

We would suggest the A-7 (new road) any day.  The car hire company at Murcia SJ airport gave us directions which were very easy to follow (go in Cartagena direction then follow signs to Vera!).  The journey is very straightforward (we did our first journey in the dark having used Almeria most times on previous visits and managed the trip in 1hr 15).  However, do make sure you are clear on how to join the new road on the way back.  We didn't research this too well and heading towards Murcia on the E15 by mistake can take you way off course!  Good luck.

the easy way to get back to San Javier is to join the E15 at Antas,,,, which is where you would have left on your inbound journey, but follow the signs to ALMERIA I  know its the wrong motorway and you will be going the wrong way but trust me ,,,,,,,,,,,, follow ALMERIA and leave at the first exit and re-join  the E15 following MURCIA you will then pick up the AP7 the "new " road to CARTAGENA..... its only 5 mins, ive done it and this is the best.
