Can anyone advise of the situation regarding Garbage Tax which is payable separately to IBI tax.

We have been told that we have to go to the Dept ourselves to get and pay our bill, other people say it is posted out to you.

We completed Sep 2005, and have just been able to pay our IBI tax , our Solicitor got hold of the invoice for us it was not posted out as was promised by the dept when we rang them last Novemeber 2006.

Paying IBI , basura , wealth, tax is quite interesting in Marbella.... No 1 rule.... never rely on the town hall to mail you a invoice.... No 2 rule never allow for the postal service to deliver your bill.... No 3 rule it is down to you and your responsibility. No 4 rule do not assume tax is not payable as there is no Occ Licence. The fact you have never recieved a bill is no excuse.Go to Avda Del Mar in Marbella town beach side as you walk down to the sea on your left is a official Marbella town hall office....can't miss it lots of people outside....produce your deeds( or should say escritura) and they will give you a bill with all outstanding amounts for IBI and Basura. You cannot pay here but on the reverse is a list of banks you can go to and pay by a certain date. If you pass the date you have to go back to Avda Del Mar and repeat the process. Easiest thing to do is set up a DD. Note If you are Man 3 Bl 1 e.g. completed in Jul 04 they will try to invoice you for the first six months of 2004 you do not have to pay that.....If that happens go to the town hall in Orange Sq and ask them to quash.

Reading this post I think it would be appropiate to ask How many of you know about wealth tax which is also paybale on your property? This is a so called imaginary tax on income derived from rental so to speak...so I believe. One thing is for sure it is payable. Unless you know what you are doing I would reccomend a gestoria to do this. Do not use your lawyer they are normally a lot more expensive to use than a gestoria.

thankyou for your reply we have a gestora who told us to wait for the occupation license !! we are over 10th oct so will go to the town hall. Not sure of the road you mentioned any other land marks to help us please.
