Hi All

We have just completed on block 20 and spent the bank holiday weekend there, a few snags and still work going on but looks OK at the moment.  We were considering going over for the New Year, we have a teenage daughter(15) and a teenage son (14), but didnt want to go if it is deserted with not much going on.  Is anyone else going over for the new year? Or could anyone recommend somewhere to go for New Years Eve?  Bearing in mind, as we tried last weekend, there isnt any taxi service to speak of so someone has to drive.

Any ideas

Annie

Just thought I would bring this to the top (assuming this works, bit of a technophobe), still trying to gauge whether it will be busy or not!

Annie,

We are in Block 27 Annie, and have 4 children Daughter ( 12 and 8) and Sons ( 9 and 5) we will also be in the area for New Years Eve. Having spent a couple of weeks over there recently the taxi service seemed non-existant and i would expect on New Years Eve the chances are NIl.... someone will certainly have to drive.

The only place we found lively with live music was an Irish Bar in Carbanouros the Restaurant was called the Shamrock and the Bar etc the Irish Rover. The food was excellent i had Salmon with champagne and seafood sauce....However you could try the hotels closeby to see if any do a party night, meal music and dance.

We are going on Boxing Day for two weeks. When we were there last we spoke with another 3 couples who also intend to spend new year in Thalassa. We have looked at a few options but think when we go over next month, we will look again as some places hadn't yet made any decisions in this respect.

It will be a concern regarding the driving as you say - but we could look at this later on when a venue has been sorted. As an example  Hotel Mexican apparently had a very good night last year but don't as yet, have any details for this year. We have also been told that there is a good place at the Pueblo but we think this is too far. Desert Springs are not doing anything.

Maybe we could use this thread to indicate possibilities - seems like a good idea?

Hi all,

Jane and I are over on Boxing Day until 2nd January with my mother-in-law and daughter (17).

Would be interested in finding out what others are planning.

We are alos hoping to come out for new year,- we will be in block 38-  we have a 5 year old girl., and friends of ours who have also bought in the same block are also considering it, seems loke it could be quite a party. If there are enough of us could we not try to organise a party in one of the communal areas? easier ( but a bit colder ) than taxis !

that sounds like a good idea, but I have to say we weren't told about this communal area so the first I have heard of this has been from this site.  Anyway, assuming this will be ready I dont see why we could not try to organise something if enough people are prepared to get together to make an atmosphere.

Great Idea; maybe I will go with my family around New Years Day. I have 2 daughters (8 and 7 years old) so it would be great if something sort of a "family party" could be organised at the communal areas.

Cheers

I will collate some information for outside possibilities at the end of September when I come back and maybe others could look at the possibility of the communal area - some may like to a bit of both?

I didn't know there was a 'communal area' as such - can someone please enlighten me?

Could work out really well - better than trying to organise a pre-community meeting I hope. That appears to have a developed  into red herring to date ( only a light hearted joke - I know its close to all our heats!).
