I understand that we are compelled to purchase installation of Sky from one supplier (Mr Anderson) but the price is equal  to elsewhere on the coast..  Could somebody please let me have contact details and, if you have used the sevice, has it been a good one?

Thanks,

Michael

Tom Anderson details landline: 0034 952 494 317 or mobile 0034 654 455 397. We haven't used him yet, but he is the only choice I believe. I believe I am also right in saying that the deal was that IL did not pay him to do the intial pre-installation of Sky dishes, etc, he makes his money by the owners paying to have the last bit of installation done. A money saving exercise by IL, paid for by the owners? This may be the norm in Spain, but I think it is an unfair way of doing it (ie unfair to owners and Mr A, in my opinion).

We completed before Christmas 2006 in block 13 and used Tom Anderson to install sky. He was there when he said he would be and did a great job so I would highly recommend that you use him.

The connection charge was 300 Euros and 190 for the digital receiver.  I agree with the previous posts; he was very responsive and came to the apartment exactly when he said he would

This was a one-off payment to receive all the Free-View channels indefinitely.  I think we flicked through about 30 channels whilst we were there, including BBC 1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 5, but could not receive Channel 4.

You need to pay separately for the additional Sky subscription channels.

Sorry about my last message. Tom Andersen has just installed satellite into our apartment in block 26. Homecareontheweb have checked the installation and all appears well. In terms of the payment the digital box has increased in price and the price is now 540 Euros.

Hi

Tom also installed for us in Block 18 and did a good job. We could not find CH5 - what channel number is it on?

Regards

Tom also installed for us. I don't think you can get channels 4 or 5 from memory. He told us this before installing. However there are loads of other English speaking channels especially if you can bring over a sky card.

I have Sky + and Sky HD at home and intend bringing + card over next week to put in Sky box that Tom installed. Does anyone foresee any problems either taking the card out from + box in N Ireland or putting + card in ordinary Sky box

Gusdonnelly. Your Sky Card is only matched to the original Sky Box that it was paired with. Sky are the only people who can change this. Your Sky Box in CDS will only provide the basic Free Channels. Inserting the Sky Card will make absolutely no difference.

Chills

Gus,
I am also from Northern Ireland and recently spent a month in Casares Del Sol and brought my sky card from home. We were able to get more than the basic free channels! My advice is to take it with you and try it!

Your Sky Card will ONLY work with the Digibox it was originally switched on with. Only Sky can connect the card with a second Box and they will not do that. Contact a local dealer who will be able to sell you a different card.

I too brought my UK Sky card from home and it does work in the Spanish box for many channels, although our subscription does not include sport or movie channels.

Has anyone heard of someone connecting  their own satellite receiver? If so, did it work?

Unfortunately we had to use the services of Tom Anderson to connect as it is he who carried out the pre- installation. If you connect  yourselves he does have the legal right to remove all the equipment he installed which would make installing bt somebody else difficult as the satelite was also supplied by him.

we opted for the connection only which was the cheapest way and then brought a receiver box from the uk and our own card.

The boxes are easily obtainable.

does anyone know if we have to go through tom anderson as we only want to be able to get english channels and freeview via digital. As we do not have sky in the uk, we are loathe to pay 540e for his package. we assumed we could just get a digi box but i now dont think that is possible.

can anyone advise on the cheapest solution

thank you

noddy
