Just Dan - I've cracked it.  I think I know what motivates Norman Sands - your entry says "I've made 373 posts" but poor old Norman has another 200 posts to make before he catches you up, he obviously wants to be blogger-in-chief.  His foolish and reckless attempts to make a quick profit on the booming Spanish property market (no doubt that's how the agent portrayed it) has left him with a feeling of low self-esteem and he needs to succeed elsewhere to compensate. Maybe if you kept quiet for a bit he could catch you up and then retire gracefully ?

Just Dan and others,

I gave up trying to reason with this bitter and twisted individual a long time ago. Truth is, he was very foolish and put money he could ill-afford to risk into a so-called investment, perhaps thinking he could make a quick profit, but came unstuck and now spends all his available time mocking those who are happy with their holiday home. I suspect his perpetual down-beat comments are a mixture of jealousy and trying to cover up his severe embarrassment at having been so foolish.  He's been doing it so long he probably believes his own propoganda.

I hope Norman is enjoying the English summer while I'm in the Spanish sunshine at my CDS holiday home. My advice to him is "Stop visiting Eye on Spain" and move on. Not that this advice will be appreciated as being in his best interest.

We are feeling sorry for ourselves, aren't we ?  Those sunbathers weren't looking at you suspiciously, just probably wondering why you looked so sad. As for the bars, do you know of anywhere in that part of Spain where no-one has bars on their windows ?  From casual observation it seems to be the norm, a Spanish thing.

Cheer up, count yourself lucky you didn't buy in Iraq 10 years ago.

Just for the record, way back in April I offered a copy of the contract in English and a number of people took me up on the offer, including one Norman Sands.  Guess who was the only one not to reply with a thank you ?  Seems to confirm that courtesy to others isn't one of his strengths.
