Security at Sierra Golf?

We are in the process of purchasing property at SG as a holiday home.    Are there issues of security we need to be aware of?

Don't know anything about SG but I will say that burglars are a big problem in Spain especially in expat community's if you do buy don't buy a ground floor buy on the third floor or above for obvious reasons you should also consider the fly's and the mosques big problem in Spain  the higher up the less they will bother you.

Like many other developments there is a general problem with crime but nothing major

Security is all about basic precautions and deterients, making it less attractive to even try to break into your property one of the most basic things is that they don't want to be found so

Immediately after completion & before you furnish change the locks, many people have had the keys

Install security grills on doors and windows

There are external lights so supplement these with PIR motion sensor lights

Internally have a light on a timer

Consider simple noise maker alarm, the Friedland brand on Amazon,  cheap wireless type, or even dummy box and camera

If yo are having internet the IP motion sensor cameras are cheap and easy to install

I cam say this because on my villa I have ALL of the above and we live here permantely

Could you advise who/where we can acquire security grills?  

Ask the locals some one will know 

Try La Forge....they are good and they speak English.

You should first obtain permission from the site  manager's regarding alterations to the outside of the building if others on the site have had grills fitted you should not have a problem the site management will also point you in the right direction regarding supply and fitting.

I did not realize this site was a urbanization l was under the impression it was a resort with the site maintained by a management team and so forth ( who will maintain the outside of the apartments grounds and structure ).

There are no apartments, there is a golf course that is close by and it is all detached villa and houses with their own gardens

The common areas are maintained by the community

The forge are good for grills.  Take usual precautions against crime and as we know criminals will now break in even when your home in uk I know people who have many deterrents and they've been home. Unfortunately it's what people are like wanting to take from others make sure insured and secure as much as possible.  The site has areas which have been relatively quiet but with it filling up that will deter thieves. Be vigilant and make friends with neighbours all look out for each other .  

Has Sierra golf regards break ins during this darker winter nights eased as its now getting more active.

I've lived in Spain for a few years now, and about to arrive at the Sierra Golf. I will be installing my YALE wireless alarm system (x2), which I've used on my various properties and found it absolutely dependable. I bought them on Ebay and it's an easy fit. One word of caution though, and this applies to any alarm system... the box(es) needs to be sited in a shaded area - if possible.

Hi we have a house on Sierra golf and the people who look after it have e mailed me to say that due to ill health they will

finish at the end of May. We currently live in Bahrain so a bit difficult for us to come and sort in out . When my wife came to visit she was talking to someone who looks after the properties in Sierra golf and lives  there could somone please give me his number is number is up in the tapas bar
