Property insurance

We took out our insurance with Zurich through PW when we bought 5 years ago. Since receiving the policy documents 5 years ago we've not receied any further correspondence from Zurch, though they've taken their renewal payents by direct debit in July every year.

Yesterday out of the blue I got an e-mail from 'Gesfin Urbana' informing me my policy will shortly be renewed with them. I assume they've taken over the policies from Zurich?? Anybody got any idea?

We were with Zurich and were being ripped off to the tune of nearly 200 euros a year when someone on here stated that the buildings are insured by the community and now we only pay about 60 euros for contents. Open a dialogue with Mileniun who arranged my insurance with AXA and bin your Zurich policy ASAP.

 We are with Liberty Seguros, very good service and all in english, they come to repair within 24 hours, pay some 70 euros per year

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I know Zurich were expensive and of course if the guy who's contacted me is going to save me money for the same level of cover that's great. But I've never contacted him and he seems to have taken over my insurance without my knowledge or authorisation, which seems a bit strange.

So I was actually wondering if anyone else who is still with Zurich has received the same e-mail? And how this guy got my details and seems to have taken over my insurance without my knowledge or authorisation? I have no idea who we're now covered by (he didn't mention AXA or any other insurer in the e-mail and I've not received any policy documents), or if the cover he's providing matches what I had before.

 It is quite common amongst insurers to buy/sell portfolios, maybe the broker has gone out of business or he changed to another insurance. Anyway you should receive a written notification about that, otherwise you can change to another insurance without any problem. Frank
