taxi fares

Hi,

can anyone tell which taxi company is the cheapest to use from either alicante or murcia airport to condado and roughly how much it would cost there are just two of us looking to come out the first week in june

Most Taxi firms claim that they have to charge meter price and i have had issues with this. Pre booking allows me to offer better prices . Lots of rules and regulations . also if someone not a legal taxi and they take a payment , does not make it hire or reward and you need insurance for that. Minibus is registerred for hire and has special insurance for that. 

Be careful about ending up in an uninsued car as insurance is void if purpose not covered

Anyone can e mail me with some info on travel  if you want prices . Prefer to talk to people who have the courtesy of at least saying who they are. No discussions with those who have their own agenda. 

 

I'm not too sure of the ins and outs of taxi hiring but I would be very concerned if I was in an uninsured vehicle which had an accident, left me unable to earn an income and did not pay out any compensation. I didn't really think about this much until recently but were it to happen (God forbid) to anyone then I'm sure they would wish they had taken the 'legal' option. Maybe the non legal ones do have insurance for passengers but I don't think so??

I would say every insured driver has his passengers insured as long as the vehicle is not being used for hire and/or reward!

If the driver is doing this as a favour to help out another resident then I don't think anyone would have an issue with this. Look on the Facebook site for condado! There is a section covering what I have posted, after all money is tight for us all now and taxi rides are usually not a must but an expensive way of getting around.

Must also be secretive as well if a company is not prepared to say what a public charge is!

I mean it is a metered taxi ride and all legal after all, the bus company produced their fares.

Would also like to know price if their are legal taxi companies they must have set fares every company here advertises airport prices why not on Condado seems strange.

Have you seen Camposol Lift Share (or. Smething similar) on FB, people travelling to/ from Airports and Camposol and Condado offering car sharing!! Condado Excursions do a wonderful job...but if only one or 2 of you and there is a lift going, why not utilise it!!

I agree. The lift sharing is a good idea. It was more the unlicensed taxis I was referring to. If you were in an accident in one of those and the insurance co realised it was being used as a 'for hire/reward' vehicle as Chaddyowl mentions, then I doubt if you would be covered for any loss. I'd be happy to car share from the airports or share a taxi fare or whatever.

We are new to the resort and when deciding whether to buy or not the one concern we had was transport to and from the airport as there will be times when we probably know we dont want a hire car once we are at our holiday home or sometimes  the mrs might want to come over without me and not fancy the drive (or vice versa)

I know the new airport will cut transport costs down in this regard but having received a quotation from the licenced taxi for Condado it works out quite expensive for just two people. If 4 people are travelling it is much more reasonable but the reality for us is that we will mostly be visiting our holiday home as a couple so we would welcome any alternative method of getting to and from the resort.

Taxi sharing is a good option if you can find people who are travelling in at the same time as you but I'm not sure how practical that will be, we will see when we start coming over.

I heard there is a larger licensed minibus taxi available on Condado, perhaps they could run scheduled return trips to the airport once or twice a day, not sure if there is enough demand for that but that could help reduce individual costs. And I understand there are several other Polaris resorts in the area, is there no demand for a service between resorts or has the administration effectively removed all association between Polaris World resorts (I thought owners from each could use the others services?).

I would use car sharing, used David off Condado to Murcia airport and was way expensive, notice how he didn't reply when asked about price

 Who is David being compared to, when it's said he is expensive?

 This subject must surely have run its course, you pay your money and you take your chance! travel in an illegal taxi and get stopped by the police, they will more than likely confiscate the vehicle, and leave you at the side of the road to make your own way to wherever you are going, harsh I know, but the fact is the vehicle is not insured for this purpose, taxi vehicles have to undergo a rigerouse testing procedure every six months to ensure they are roadworthy, so think twice before condeming legal taxi's for persieved high charges, your personal safety should be paramount

 I will give anyone a price if they e mail me as below - yet another no name with only 9 posts - I took someone back yesterday who used Steve "Taxi" to get here in an old  RHD drive car ,driver as nervous as hell did not go shortest route where Guardia do road checks He charged them same as I do . 

I offer pre booking discounts and regulars get discounts off meter price - and thats the only way i can get around it. 

Official prices for a Taxi are as set down by Town Hall , I am not putting my price on Public forum as official prices are laid down by regulation . Again if you want a price send me an e mail  where i can see who you are and have details .

 

 

Why owners put their guests at risk in illegal uninsured cars I do not know. ? Its not price as I have been told of illegals charging more . 

 

A simple question would you use a illegal taxi in the UK after a night out, how many times on the news have you heard about women getting attacked by rogue/illegal taxi drivers, don't slag off people who are legitimate companies and pay taxes etc. Why is Spain different to the UK, use your brains!!!

thanks for all the reply's I have to say have been pm'd by a few and there dosent seem to be any difference in the prices and personally I would only ever use a legal service home or abroad, thanks for all the info but my friends have decided to rent a car now which to be honest i recommended from the first as it is much cheaper and you then have the freedom to venture of site and see all the lovely places we have on our door step at Condado
