are you having a laugh?

I would say its a improvement, and its nice that we can now come of the 18th and have a pint and some food without getting in the car and driving to the clover.

But its hardley what I expect when we put thousands into our property.

I expected a nice big modern club house over 3 years ago, as did most people.  so no its not really the experience we expect..

Richard

That is excellent news for now.

Thanks for the update.

We all want the mega club house but for now in the times we find ourselves in now is a real improvement.

Having just returned from CDA last week I think the new temporary clubhouse will work very well and in the future when the economic crisis eases up a bit we could potentially get our dream clubhouse with temporary one being used as an accademy/pro's office or centre as it is ideally located next to the range and practice areas.

Also from the 7th tee the new club house looks really good against the back drop of the penthouses and blends right in.

It is without doubt as positive an addition as we could expect right now.

I'm back in October and look forward to having a couple of ice cold ones on the terrace.

Cheers

Jay

Good news, can't wait until my next visit. I'm very happy we actually have a club house thats more than a porta cabin and when I last saw it they hadn't opened it but it was looking far better than expected.

A huge club house would have taken business from Al Kasar and as we still need visitor number to rise to maintain all these facilities I think the present club house is ideal and looks the part!

Real world, Real world.

Might be the only bloody thing built in spain for 4 years, ha ha, I'm certainly well happy we've got, it might well be permenantly temporary so to speak but its better than naff all.

Come on Richard.

I didnt say i am not happy with whats been done.

I said its hardly the golf experience we where after is what i said.

Totally disagee with the fact a big club house would draw money away
From al kazar. A big club house would bring people in. You would certanly get the tour there
Possible take the qualifying school from la torre and one of the senior events also.

I play alot of golf in the uk and at various clubs at a high level. Its amazing how many
Golfers say nice course, shame about the facilities wouldnt come back.

Signature couse is one of the best i have played. And its the best in the area.

But its lacking the va va voom to draw holiday golfers and pro golfers in, in numbers.

Yes it most likely will be permenant. Who would spend a few mill on a club house in todays climate?
However if this is the case why not originally put it where it should be.

Standing by what i originally said. even though i am very happy something is there at last.

As a golfer its not the "experience" i would expect!

Cant fault the course hats off to all the green keepers they do a fantastic job.

I am out in sept, barbra feel free to join me for a round and we can have a chat. Ill even buy you a drink in the new club house

Richard.

We might miss out on some of the holiday golfers...but then again any serious golfers would be highly disappointed travelling thousands of miles to play a few rounds at La Torre although they'd probably say facilities are good.

A big clubhouse would be detrimental to Al Kasar as they would target the non-golfers and the evening meals etc etc.

Anyway bottom line it was fantastic to walk off the course and have a cold beer after a round.

Here's me thinking cda was supposed to be a golf resort.

Don't think people travel afar to visit the al Kasar. Its only residents and onsite owners/renters who go there. Having a club house serving food is no different than a new restaurant opening up in the alkasar.it would draw in a lot more golfers thus in turn more interest in the resort.

People are allowed to chose. Can't see a big club hose serving Bulgarian food.

Anyway a big club house isn't going to happen for a very long time if at all IMO.

Might be a long shot but how many units are sold, and has any one thought about approaching owners for loans to build a proper club house on the land?

It's almost like you don't want one?

it will have to do for now and for being temporary it is superb.

Having said this it is not a patch on the clubhouses at Hacienda Del Alamo and Roda which I recently visited. What I will say is that the courses were very quiet and not as busy as Condado.

Would love a big whopper of a clubhouse  but we are looking at quite some time for this to happen.

I am happier that I can now come off the course and have a shower, a beer and bite to eat.

To be fair I hadn't thought of the bigger picture of tournaments needing a bigger clubhouse I was thinking of all the general golfers, after all the Condado Club can host club activities too, it has the facilities. But the new club house services golfers coming off the course for a beer and a bite to eat then any presentations and buffets can be held at Condado Club.

I still think there is some issue with the original speck for the clubhouse- maybe its one piece of land still held by PW. Or its better to put the temporary club house where it is so that any future building wont interfere with the day to day running of the course- long view of course! This building may then have another life for the pro golfers etc, but I'm expecting that someway down the line aren't you?.

Its important to remember that there are only about 350 residents on CdA and the Oct-April season is by no means as profitable for those running the facilities so a big new club hose would affect Al Kasar- though I accept if tournaments come our way the club house could possible see a profit.

I think we do have to accept CdA isn't what we expected, and we can all beat ourselves up about what we haven't got but that won't get us far.

Oct-April is Golf season, you wont get many golfers wanting to play golf in peak holiday season, its just way to hot.  and at the moment none of the golfers will come out in the colder months as there is nothing to do on site, plus the lack of a club house...

Swings and round abouts with the golf.  I certanly dont think CDA will be worse off with a good club house, it will definatly draw in the tours and more holiday golfers

Most Pro events in spain will be between Oct & April possibly may also.

Totally Accept it isnt what we expected, and a temp club house is still better than no club house.

Has anyone thought about approaching owners for loans, we did this at my current club for Fairway irrigation.  Over time members get there money back, and the course benefits from having fantastic fairways in the summer months.

If you can get 1000 owners putting in €2000 thats going to provide a decent club house on the udnerstanding that in the long term the money is repaid with NO interest..

Well the positve news is in July I brought 4 of my mates over all serious golfers and they absolutely loved Condado.

We played it twice along with Roda and Hacienda del Alamo and they can't wait to come back. It will be even better next year with a clubhouse now operational.

When I say they loved Condado I' talking about the resort in general. We also spent Saturday night in Mazzaron which was absolutely superb.

Dear BFR

A good post at last, someone thats based their comments on real time facts whats actually happening now, not just dwelling on what we were promised, what we might of had, what we might have, or any other speculative thoughts and comments.

Giles- I have consistently said that I think this club house is a good idea and idieal given the circumstances. I have said that its no good looking at what should be or what we paid into- its gonna make no difference but that they've made a good job of resiting this building. Its not all negative on this thread. I actaully can't see a problem with the club house being there for those after  round drinks but Condado Club taking up the slack for any big groups!
