Hi, can anybody tell me if any UK banks etc, will transfer money to a Spanish bank account for free or reasonable charge. My NatWest bank charges £10 per transaction. I am looking at paying relatively small amounts every month into my Spanish A/C. Thanks.

You can do free transfers from a Halifax account to a Lloyds account in Spain.

Barclays also do free transfer between their accounts too.

Alternatively contact Currencies direct. They will small amounts fro free.

The problem with all of them is that if you only send a small amount the exchange rate will be pants.

Thanks for your prompt response. I was looking at the Barclays website last night and saw they do the Euro account.

Cheers, Steve.

Hi Steve,

There are a couple of money transfer firms who will transfer money to your spanish bank account on a monthly contract for free.

The one we use is HIFX.  They are based in England & have a very good website detailing all they do.

You set a currency exchange rate for the year, this is usually slightly above the bank rates.

Have a look at the website or give them a ring.  Hope this helps.

P.S. Just notticed an add for the Post Office advertising free transfers to overseas bank accounts.  Don't know anything about them but this is the website address they advertised  postoffice.co.uk/free transfers

Hi

We also use HIFX and have no hesitation in recommending them.

They make everything so easy online, and keep you updated by txt as the transfer progresses.

Cheers

Jimal

I have used both HIFX and Curencies Direct.

The last 3 times I've done a transfer the rate offered by CD was much better than HIFX

So do shop around
