Hi,

Has anyone purchased from IKEA in Sevilla and had it delivered by them?  If so, how much did it cost?

Or does anyone know where I can hire a van to get it all from Sevilla to Duquesa myself?

Thanks,

Daniela

Daniela, not sure if IKEA Seville will deliver to Duquesa area - but have found a company who do, website link:

http://www.doncampo.co.uk/

Check out their site and you'll see that they will charge about 260 Euros, (well they quote about that for a trip they did to Mijas).   We have also thought about hiring a van and doing the trip ourselves, but I think I would rather pay the money than lug all that stuff around!!

Anyway, hope that helps

PS  Have just checked out their site myself and it may be even less to Duquesa!  Unless they've increased their prices!!!!

Worth checking the local papers SUR, Town Crier, Euronews etc in English Book Shop Sabinillas I have seen advent for man with van 20 euros an hour.

Also may be worth waiting I think IKEA Malaga opens in May/June time.

Done several trips, one of the few van hire companys is Hertz,  just up the coast.  Large Merc van (v quick and easy to drive)was about 120euros per 24 hrs out of season. Only got all the stuff in though because Ikea were out of many Items. (Think of the size of van you will need then double it, the space just seems to go). Its a hell of a round trip though, the mountain roads comming back through Ronda in the dark after a long days driving, shopping and loading up aint much fun. Good luck.

To go to and from Seville quickly always use the N340 or Peage towards Los Barrios (Cadiz road) and then take the road north to Jerez and then on to Seville. Its longer than the diagonal route, but the road is faster.

It takes me just over 2 hours to Seville on the main road route. Coming back on the short mountain route can take as long as 3 1/2 hours., its very very windy.

I see that IKEA Seville are now delivering to the coast - but they are not cheap!!  Just checked it out and it seems VERY expensive!  And, strangely, the more you spend, the higher the delivery cost!  I thought it would be the other way round, eg the more you spend, free delivery!

I take it the proposed Ikea in Malaga (due to open May / June 2007) has been delayed like everything in Spain seems to be.  Anyone any idea?  Would be great not to have to do that round trip to Seville!

Don't think IKEA Malaga will open before August 2007, from what I've read.

Seville trip, from Malaga, is pretty easy though, and direct and easy to find.

Jeff, youre right the Jerez route is Fab, just done it, the toll rd is very quick and easy, under 2hrs each way, the round trip via Rhonda can be a 7hr return trip, and so windy it wears you out. A new Ikea store is being built just by Malaga airport. I passed it last night.  The site board is up and the ground being prepared for foundations. Back in DV in two weeks, the weather is great, see you soon. Regards Andy.

We just returned after doing the Jerez route. It was pretty good though we got lost on the way back after my husband refused to turn off when the sat nav told him....

Ikea were great.  We had a few probs due to misunderstandings as the staff seemed to have limited Eng as do we Spanish but a lovely man caled Manu actually arranged a free delivery of the bits we got wrong including replacing a sofa we had constructed for the sofa bed we thought we had ordered!  Can't complain!

Just come back and did the Ikea thing twice once used www.doncampo.co.uk as per Jan's posting and found them wonderful Liz is really helpful and cost was 286 euros for a van full.  Went back in the car for the smaller things we missed in the car and journey took about 1 hour 45 mins on the motorway each way.
