Does anyone have the internal measurements of a two bedroom apartment? I've requested these from Ros y Falcon but they've not been very helpful. Ideally I require the following:

  • Window measurements and drop
  • Number of lights and type, i.e. ceiling or wall fitting
  • Measurements of the rooms.

I think we have all those measurements because we asked to see the flat b4 signing but they are in Spain in my file. I am back there next week if it helps. I have a 2 bed in block 8 and its an 01 flat.

The lights are all ceiling:-

Entrance hall 4 sets of wires - I installed spots,

Entrance to main bedroom, 1 light again we have a spot, middle of main and 2nd bed we installed hanging.

Lounge/dining 2 hanging lights.

Utility room I installed spot, kichen central light I installed a plate with 3 spots.

Ensuite I installed 2 spots, and 2nd bathroom 2 spots already installed by builder because of false ceiling for aircon heat exchanger.

Spots are about 10-15 euros for 3 units with lamps, I bought 3 packs and have a spare fitting. I bought non transformer spots as its less to go wrong.

If you purchase a hole cutter for an electric drill  (10 euros) for the false celings, hall, utility, bathroom etc. Its quick and easy to fit the spots.

Jeff, did you buy these locally?  Any suggestions about where to buy light fittings - without taking out a second mortgage, that is!!!

Thanks.

For Light fittings, Leroy Merlin they are in La Canada (near Marbella), and Los Barrios area, but better to go to Los Barrios go down towards (N340) Cadiz come off at km 112 cross over to south side of road. If you go to Leroy Merlin at km 112 you have 2 other lighting shops behind Leroy Merlin and a Carrefour nearby, they also do lights. Lights also available in little shops around Sabinillas, ie Rafalux, Bernardo Munoz and a shop in Monte Duquesa square.

The one on the corner near the garage at km 112 area we used 4 years ago for our house and in Jan 2007 for DV. They also sell pictures at very good prices. Cannot remember the name but I think its called Gales, but when you go its pictures on the left and lights on the right.

Other places are Hipercor at El Cotes Ingles, and there is another lighting shop between San Pedro and the Autopista San Pedro turn off.

We always go Los Barrios as its quick to get to and no tolls and easy parking.

Many thanks for that, Jeff!  I think we're just about sorted where to fit our apartment out now!

And I'm working on the premise that if I get curtains here (they're way cheaper here, I believe) measuring 250 width, by 250 drop (cms) I will probably be safe for both bedrooms and the lounge.  I notice from alot of the furniture pack websites that they provide curtain poles up to 240/250cm.  Unless that might be too wide/long for the second bedroom.  Did you find a big difference in the width/drop of any of the windows?

In our 2 bed apartment in phase 1 the took the following measurements for curtain poles and lengths

Lounge   pole length  300cm  and curtain drop 255 cm

Main bedroom pole length  260cm  curtain drop 250cm

Second bedroom  pole length  210cm  curtain drop 210cm

But all apartments on the development may have slightly varying measurements.

Carrefour have quite a wide range of ready made curtains and are also quite good for light fittings.

Regards

Michael

Thanks, Michael.  After posting that, I was talking to a friend and she actually said better to have them made too wide/long and then easier to adjust and she may be right.  I must say I did look at the photo of our lounge window and thought that I might have been optimistic with a 250cm wide pole as it did look a little wider.

What sort of costs are we talking about for ready made curtains?  We have a few stores here who sell ready-made, unlined curtains for about 50-70 Euros max.  Or it will cost about 200 Euros for me to get a lined set made to order of my fabric choice.  Is that competitive?

Thanks

The poles we bought in Leroy Merlin were:-

300cm for lounge (made by buying 2 x 150cm and a joiner tube, you need 2 end support bracket and 1 central bracket where the join is. 40 rings to support curtain

250cm main bedroom and I cut about 20cm off I think, 2 supports, 30 rings here

200cm 2nd bedroom and 2 supports, 30 rings here

on the ends of each pole add end fittings and you choose the shape/style.

Lounge hession type curtains and we just put up voiles in bedrooms as we have shutters

My wife made them as you can buy curtain material the full drop (3m), so you just buy 2.5 widths (ie for 2m wide window buy 2.5 x 2 = 5m) cut in half to make a pair. Measure the drop you need sew on the tape at the top as the bottoms are already finished off, cut the excess off the fold over at the top, add the hooks and hang.

Its dead easy I watched her do it !! I then had to hang the bl**dy things up. Best to have some porrage to keep the strength in your arms going.

We'll get the poles, etc., when we are there so thanks for the info about Leroy Merlin.

One measurement I would like to have is the "hatch" between the kitchen and the lounge.  I would really like to have some sort of roman blind or something to cover this and wonder if anyone has the measurements for that?  Maybe that may differ, also, between apartments, but I don't think there will be much difference.

Any measurements?
