Has anyone seen the Aifos web site lately? They are not only still trading but they also have an opening page extolling their virtues  as a caring and effective company!!

How can they still be offering apartments for sale after the debacle of Hipodromo and others??

As far as I know liquidation is still going ahead, but it is strange to see the details below on their site?

Aifos, a strong and solvent group of companies

About us
Aifos Spanish Property Developer
Sunservice
Guadalpin
Hogares Nuevos

The Aifos Group is a integrated developers group, leader in the field of holiday homes on the Mediterranean coast, which is particularly active in the field of primary residences in Andalusia and Aragon and and has something nearing 2,200 employees.

Developing and selling both primary residences and holiday homes is its main activity, which determines its business strategy that has led them to having one hundred developments with 28,000 housings dwellings at present, of which: about 16,000 are holiday homes in Alicante, Almeria, Cadiz, Murcia and Costa del Sol and the rest are primary residences, more than 2,000 of which are being developed in Aragon. As a company connected to the building industry, we place special emphasis on the rate of work related accidents which is practically zero.

During the past five years, the Group has experienced constant growth, investing the synergy of each of its companies to achieve a position in each of the sectors they operate in, in order to assure their feasibility. This way of managing both the financial and human resources of the Group has allowed them experience on-going growth, continuing to specialize in land development and residential building, while strengthening its capacity in other markets such as those of primary residences, services, real estate, hotels or and technology.

Aifos development has also taken on a strongly marked worldwide scope and has branches in cities such as London, Manchester and Dublin.

Throughout this time, Aifos has also established relations with other partners, whilst at the time of sharing experiences and criteria to get and important projects started, which require them to go farther than anyone could go on their own. With the strategy in place, the planning for the coming years and with the present results, Aifos is considered to be a leading developer and construction company in the sector, specialised in high quality Residential Tourism.

The division of Aifos hotels is in the market under the brand name Gvadalpín and is until today in charge of the management of two hotels which have already become a reference for service and gastronomy on the] Costa del Sol: Gran Hotel Gvadalpin Marbella and Gran Hotel Gvadalpin Banus, which was inaugurated in March 2005. The Group has also acquired the most significant and luxurious Hotel Gran Lujo on the Andalusian Coast, the Byblos Andaluz which has been renamed as Byblos Gvadalpin. The managing of the hotels consists of selling the apartments as a property, providing the purchaser with the opportunity of profiting from the exclusive services that a five star hotel offers and the possibility of renting their apartment for their own financial gain. This concept allows Aifos to draw up the development and sales of apartments together with the hotel management, establishing a high quality hotel product which is not dependent on the seasonal rotation of this sector while assuring the client an excellent service.

Turning to the subject of management and administration, the company stands out in different aspects, such as its policy of “internalization” of human resources, which guarantees minimal dependence on out-contracting and provides it with a constant and permanent increase of the numbers and labour stability of its employees.

........just a thought. Have they started again with a slightly different title, in the hope that those owed money by them, some with won court cases against them  have no claim on the '' new'' company?.  Either that or perhaps the website is just a 'ghost' site with nothing behind it now?

I've had no word from my lawyer that they are still in business or we have anything to get exited about?, so I assume it's business as usual........or rather no business that we can claim on!

It doesn't seem to be a "ghost " site as it still invites you to reserve an apartment in one of their developments. It's also identical to earlier sites so it's not a new company either. Maybe the administrators are trying to run it as a going concern until liquidation???

All a bit odd!!!!!

I sked my lawyer and he said the liquidisation is still going through and they can't trade because of their situation?  I don't know what they hope to gain from that site?, odd indeed.

Suzie

this is what I have been told word for word,

Yes, “Aifos” is still in liquidation and they are not free to trade again without judicial administrator admissiond.

following that reply, I've told my lawyer about the stand, and am awaiting an answer?

Hi Goodstitch.  We posted at the same time again!!

I heard from someone who said they went to the Exhibition & saw the Aifos Stand.  This was hard to understand but after checking the website & seeing Aifos listed as an Exhibitor....well, they certainly do seem to be trading.  No doubt about it.   Can't wait for your update!

Best, Suzanne

Just a general query here.....

If a company goes back into trading does this mean that original embargoes can be re-applied? How does the law stand on this?

Also given the situation re Aifos are they breaching any UK trading standards if they are exhibiting?

they are still trading while the liquidators decide what to do (that'll be fast then!)  If they can pay their debts, then I think they could carry on, (I'm waiting for confirmation on that point) but I would think it's a very big IF?.  I don't think any action or claims can be taken against them at this stage of negotiation, though I assume they are allowed to make money in the short term at least, as still in business?.

My god this is so frustrating. I bought a place at Hacienda Casares over 7 years ago and i've never seen anything for my £50k they have.

If I had known that AIFOS were exhibiting in London I would have gone down there and destroyed there stand. Since they are in Administration and own me £50k it's the least I could do.

Does anyone know any solicitors in the UK that can help with trying to get our money back? My apartment is built but I have never received the keys. Now I just want/need my money back.

I'm disgusted with the Spanish legal system and why things in 2011 are taking so long to sort out......

I haven't yet, but sounds worth a go?

I really don't understand why they are not forced to at least pay back a percentage of the amount they have stolen from those who have won court cases against them when they are trading again? What is the point of spending years and large sums of money proving they are guilty, if they then don't have to honour the court decision, and you can't even action your court embargo against them?  It's so wrong it's almost unbelievable, but then so is the fact that the court can delay your case for two years allowing Aifos to go under and not be held responsible?.

Sadly, the biggest crooks of all are those we have to rely on for justice, nothing could be clearer!

Yes it does look Aifos are being allowed to continue exhibiting and presumablly trading.

Of course I am sure it will be perfectly safe to buy off them now !

If there was the slightest hint of justice then Aifos would be forced to at least set up a fund for those they have robbed and had that proved against them in court.  Can you see that happening though?.  It's not a justice system in Spain, it's just a farce, made of ongoing lies and deception, and it's clear that nobody in power in Spain or the EU is prepared to recognise that and force through long overdue action for those so badly cheated.

At least we may be given the opportunity to take a sledgehammer to their stand if they ever turn up in the UK !

It would not would suprise me in the slightest if they did turn up as one of the Spanish governments recommended

"quality" companies at forthcoming exhibtions

HI This is a message to anyone waiting to hear about Aifos addministration, a frind of mine has just received a letter from his lawyer saying that there are 800 unresolved cases that have to go to courts before the addministors can make the crediters, the only problem is that some of these cases are not in court untill 2013, 10 years after  the deposits were paid to Aifos, this is spainish justice.
