Not assuming you have to drive.  Just saying if you do there is plenty of local attractions.

We drive because we need a car to get from the Airport to CDA.  Purely down to the fact we'd need to pay around €150-€200 for a family of 5 to get to and from the airport (plus the hassle of car seats) so hiring a car makes sense for us.

If there is a bus service from Corvera and we're over for 2 weeks or less I'd be happy without a car and just use the CDA supermarket (normally use Campasol and Alhama).  I'm not a fan of The Clover but I'm not going to get too wound up having to use it over a couple of weeks if I really have to have a pint.

Again its horses for courses...if you want pubs, shops, restaurants CDA is not the place.  I want sun, a pool, a relaxing environment, nice neighbours (been lucky so far), a golf course, a sizzling BBQ and a cold beer or nice wine to hand. If you don't enjoy your own company then CDA at the moment may not be the place for you.

However I would also like a clubhouse...still waiting on that one.

To sell this place to families and kids I think you need to think outside the box.

I would sell the place as a Wild West "Ghost Town" Theme Park.

Deck out your apartment with some saloon doors, leave a few cowboy hats and toy guns and tell the kids to go get the Indians!

However on a serious note, if you enjoy a drink in the evenings then this place is not for you. You soon get sick of 1 overpriced bar. You could always get a 20 Euro taxi to Camposol if you fancy a few drinks, but dont get dressed up and leave before the fighting starts!

If you need a good night out then get a cab to Murcia, its got plenty of nightlife, but you are looking at over 100 Euros in taxis! So its becomes an expensive night.

Hi , at the risk of sticking my neck out, I would like to reply to you all.

Darren and Mark are right in what they say......but before all the happy bunnies shoot me down we all know this to be true, but we all have come to terms with it or have or are trying to do something about it.

I have read replies on this site from you Darren for well over 18 months and it is the same constenation that you have. You do not seem to have realised like others have, (and here is the main point) this resort (if you can call it that) will not be finished or even change significantly in the next 4 years.

Before everyone jumps on me for saying this, I do feel that, for something major to change in the site (like many restaurants, cafes bars etc etc, proper club house, hotel etc etc) the economy will have to be back up, the investors, investing and work designed and carried out. All this is really over 4 years away.

For the half empty crew, now that you have this information what are you going to do?

1,  Carry on moaning like you have done for the last 18 months and saying the same thing

2, Sell up if you can

3, How about trying to work with what you have got; support small improvements that you can influence ( you could start a club for people like you who want night life etc and if you have a few members they could all chip in for a mini bus to Murcia circa 15 E ea) These type of things. Making what you have more bearable until such time as things improve or you can sell.

4, join the happy bunnies

I really do hope you and Mark (who as I have said; if we all face facts are right "we do not have what we bought into") could just do something about it rather than just moan and say the same old things. Not that moaning is wrong, so long as it is either something new to moan about or you have a suggestion to get it better.

Neil

Well its started all over again,

The doom and gloom brigade versus the happy bunnies , well I'm a happy bunny just for the record.

Have we not had this convo loads of times before  and can we not all accept we didn't get what we all wanted,  cause  its not going to change anytime soon, so accept it and make the most of what we have.  I love it, The Sun, The Pool, The Balcony overlooking the Course, the Slow pace of Life, The Driving range, The Golf Course.

If you treat your place in Spain the same way you you treat your place at home I dont see where the problems are.  At home you go out for a meal you jump in the car and travel 10/15 minutes, if you go to the cinema again you jump in the car and that goes for the rest of our lifes, we want to go somewhere or do something, we jump in the car, whats so  different about Spain?

Kids will entertain themselves, whats wrong with a good book or a set of cards, why does it have to involve ready made entertainment,  and Yes Darren give the kids a box and just wait and see what they do with it???   Answers on a postcard please.

Ali

Well said Neil2610 and Ali, although i can see where some people are coming from, some people brought and accept it could be a very long while before we get anywhere near what we were promised,  there are those who brought to earn a fast buck, these people have to accept they gambled and lost ,their own fault and i have no sympathy, but there are also people who brought, were promised so much more and now find themselves paying a lot more than expected because of the exchange rate, whatever the  situation you may find yourself in, it is what it is , at the moment within the resort we dont have all we were promised but the downturn in economy is not just  exclusive to Spain. I believe Polaris intended to do most of what they promised,if they had succeeded they'd be coinin it in now!  My guess is they're not being co-operative now because they need to generate money to survive. We may be missing a few facillities but moaning  and being negative won't change this one bit,  there is still everything to enjoy outside of the resort including the beautiful landscape that makes our purchase worth every cent. If your a moaner and not happy do something about it because i think after 2 years plus everyone's gettin fed up with hearing the same old whinge, put some oil on that squeaky wheel for god sake

I peruse the site occasionally and nothing changes- this thread must be on a loop with different titles periodically.

As has been said regarding Condado  ' it is what it is' and there is no legal redress- we looked into that.  They built our apartments on time and thats the only thing we may (possibily) have been able to contest PW on had they not done that. Even the apartments could be altered by the developer and we all signed agreement to that on completion- across or below the printed pictures of your Jardin or apartment block. Everything else on this or any other resort is covered by the 'off plan' rule or buyer beware.  You are offered 'invitation to treat' which may be a British retail theory but in practice is the same elsewhere- what you see may not be what you get. Years of media coverage warn that property purchasers must be aware that they are not secure in their purchase in Spain or elsewhere. Add a recession and we had no chance of Condado being as the pretty pictures suggested. I'm mostly galled that PW probably went on selling as far back as 2007 when they could see the writing on the wall. Too late now though.

It would be hard to find a development in Spain where the developer hasnt defaulted or altered something in the big plan the gullible (purchaser) were sucked in by.

However, I'm with the thinkers who see that what they have is quite good in comparison with others in Spain- I know that doesnt help if you thought there was a good income in the rental market. For you its a gamble that hasnt paid off, for others the resort isnt as lively as anticipated so car hire is a regular additon to their vist. Cest la vie!

I have come back to this because why do we all think PW will suddenly restart their building project if Paramount arrives locally? Paramount plan their own apartments and hotels. Polaris are broke, I believe they are still teetering on the brink of insolvency, they cant build anything and definately wont until they see a market for it. They are after the construction contract for Paramount but I dont see them doing much with CdA. They own very little and cant buy plots back and anyway they own none of the unbuilt land; further more until the market picks up they wouldnt get permission to build more apartments. What sells on the new Paramount site will guide the Local Authority decision makers on giving permission for further new builds- all the planning permission for CdA has long run out. The best we can hope for is that they improve the Al Kazar and re open the Sports zone once more properties are rented long term by workers on the Paramount site although the rate of pay for construction workers doesnt suggest they'll add enought to CdA's economy to make that worthwhile for PW.  Condado wil be a useful rental place for the contruction workers but I doubt that any of us bought on CdA expecting it to be just an urbanisation populated by shift workers. also doubt any of us envisaged that Desparate of Dagenham would be renting out his apartment to 4 or 6 construction workers for 250 euro's a month who are on minimum wage.. Anyone who read my posts from the early days will recall that I was told by another local developer that PW had bitten off more than they could chew and whilst the project was ambitious and excellently designed it would become little more than a town with golf courses and if it didnt get built  properly it would merely be an urbanisation like any other.

The Banks wont reduce the price they want for CdA 2 because as soon as Paramount is confirmed somewhere  the price of land will rocket locally and they would be losers. If they dont get the Paramount  build they will get other developers wanting the land at top dollar. Any other resort development on CdA2 will not improve the chances of PW improving CdA 1.

However the whole thing hangs on investment anyway and the attack on Cruz may well have damaged that potential irretrievably.

Either way Paramount could be your salvation or your nightmare- be careful what you wish for.,

Wise words Tony.

The fact is there are no rights and wrongs in in these kind of threads as everyone's perception of what they want from their investment on CdA is different. So it's kinda pointless, really. I don't think anyone is going to convince the likes of Darren that things aren't nearly as bad as he makes out on a tediously regular basis, nor will he convince those of us who enjoy CdA (even with it's undoubted short-comings)  and our apartment that we're wrong either. So they always end up going down the same boring alley and pointless discussion.

I get the impression from Darren that he resents people being happy and feels the need to drag everyone else down into his level of mysery to help him wallow in his self pity. Darren, I'm genuinely sorry you and some others aren't happy with your investment on CdA, but do you really need to remind the rest of us about it on every single post you make? WE GET THE MESSAGE, LOUD AND CLEAR. :)

Bottom line is, venting your spleen on here isn't going to change anything. If you're really so unhappy, why not just cut your losses, sell up, and put it down to experience? And then let the rest enjoy ourselves in peace.

It's like i've never been away .........

Flights booked in March, May, July, August & October for this year, ex-wife also booking for August (after me) with same mates & family who went with her last year, her view (and she's difficult to please - i never could) is that it was the most chilling holiday she's ever had.

Now if it pleases her then something must be good about it .............

Darren, don't give up, i do love reading your posts as they make me feel better

You can sit in the stocks all night and everyone else can line up in Bunney outfits and throw everything they want at you. You can charge for it and donate the money to an ''I'm a Darren Wilkes Get Me Out of Here'' fund ......... what d'ya say ?

Exactly- enjoy what you have got instead of becoming bitter about what didnt develop or what might develop, you're not going to change anything.  Condado 1 and 2 were a ten year plan anyway maybe we are just in for the long haul.

Ye Olde Worlde Night at Al Katraz! I am up for that! I have even found an a Bunny outfit for the Happy Bunnies to wear!

Enterance is 2 Euro, but if you look like her, its free!

For every 100 Euros we raise, I will make a post pretending I like the Urbanization of Condado!
