Polaris building again.

 Has anyone else had the email from Polaris about the new complex at Mar Minor that they are building?

I didn't get the impression they're new builds though. I assumed that they had been completed for some time as they quoted old prices (I assumed from ~2007-08) and currenty heavily discounted prices, but I might be wrong.

These are near the top of the la Manga Strip on the Mar Menor side.

hi all i got one of them to .if they are building again why are they not building on condardo and finishing the job they started like the one i signed up for [not a half finished job]

Cus they still owned the land at Mar Menor.  Thya can't do anything at CDA until they can afford to buy the land back and at the moment there is no demand for any additional apartments here.  Perhaps when Paramount is built things will change, but not at the moment.

Who owns the land at CDA then?

The Banks and according to our AGM earlier this year the Banks own everything bar a piece of land at the entrance of the golf course and a couple of Naranjos Jardines. So all the land we expected to see as further golf courses, Mirador, Golf suites, the Foro, villa's  and the additional facilities at the back of CdA, fire station etc, etc all went to the Banks to stave off bankruptcy as well as the sports zone. They have an arrangement with the Banks for the sports zone, that they can repurchase within 3 years- which will reduce the liklihood of anyone else taking it over. They must also own the plot where their concrete works are and  I dare say they may have kept other choice plots- who knows where? This is why there will be no further building until PW judge there is a demand and why they wont expand on Al Kasar. They are only required to provide minimal services and there's no money in it for them to open coffee shops and the like until full time residency improves dramatically- which is unlikely if they dont build because after the 'season' occupancy dips. Traditionally they retain ownership of all the food and drink outlets on all their resorts- so those outlets you see on other resorts are merely leased.

Who knows what their thoughts are with regard to what Paramount Park can do for CdA, as that area is meant to have apartments and Hotels anyway so they may wait to judge demand before starting anything on CdA. But fingers crossed they do have a plan for CdA that wont mean us waiting for years to see some changes.

I haven't seen the ad people are posting about with regard to Mar Menor- but PW have built an area of apartments on the perimeter of the Mar Menor resort that all appear empty- could this ad just relate to those and be an attempt to rekindle interest?

So it seems we have to wait 3 years before the sportszone will be opened again as I agree that no one will want to build the business just to see Polaris come in and take advantage of your hard work.

Its still frustrating that Polaris can basically stop any new shops opening on the resort even when they have no intention of doing anything themselves.  As I understand it you can't open a shop except in Al Kasar under our/Polaris' rules.

Received an advert last night for 'Boulevard Apartments at Mar Menor'. If this is the advert other posters are referring to then this isnt Polaris building again its the swathe of apartments and retail outlets on the perimeter of Mar Menor that they have finished during this year. The bar and restaurant attached to these apartments were being promoted around the time that PW was engineering it's way out of bankruptcy and caused comment on this forum regarding the fact Mar Menor had these further facilities when CdA still had only The Clover.

No doubt if something else has been advertised by PW someone will put me straight.
