Just back from Spain and visited Hacienda del Alamo. Not many people on the golf course or in the club house. Had a look around El Oasis and it was empty. The Spanish village was completely silent, no shops or bars and no people. Met Elaine the golf professional who is now working at La Torre, Polaris World. It would appear that the Melia Hotel is up for sale and the bank is now running the resort. People are not going to want to buy on El Oasis if there are no facilities and the restaurant and bar owners are not going to move in to the Spanish village if there are no people to serve.

I think you will find a lot more people there now the school holidays are here. The Bank is now running the Resort. It was part owned by the Bank from the start. The new golf company have reduced the golf prices and the Spaniard Inn is open and doing well. The Academy is now being run by top class people and there are 2 gyms cafe and wi fi chill out rooms. The Oasis development is not completely finished yet and it is rumoured that Richard Branson is interested in purchasing the Hotel.

You will find that La Manga Club is also very quiet.

We have just been to Futureventura and that also was quiet.

I cant wait to go back out to my frontline villa on phase one at Hacienda del Alamo!.   We go to our place 5 times a year & The resort has always been kept spotless & well maintained.  The resort transforms quite literally, during the school holidays. it really is a fun friendly place to be. Feedback from friends back here in the UK, is that Most places are like a ghost town during school times .  La Manga club, Mallorca etc all exactly the same.

In May, we had an amazing break.  The 'Spaniard Inn' is once again the focal point of the resort, complimenting the club house in my view.  Jo & Kev have put a lot of time & effort into catering for everyones needs whilst keeping the standards high.  There is no doubt that everyone will benefit from the opening of the Spaniard, especially as the people now running it, know exactly how to run a business!  We will all do our level best to support the Spaniard Inn.

I think the Hotel is truely beautiful.  I feel the decision to delay the opening was the correct one in view of the fragile economy.

I dont think anybody had any idea how wonderful The Spanish village would be.  The end result is fabulous & we all wait patiently for progression there, but with realistic vision.

Was out at HDA in June and resort still looked fantastic. Quiet and very relaxing.

Spanish village looks very attractive but very empty!! Have heard numerous stories about restaurants and bars opening up but very little activity so far. Hopefully in time it will be thriving!!!

Spaniard Inn adds a welcome, if somewhat limited, service. Food is very basic and wasn't particularly appetising. Perhaps due to clashing with the World Cup, the choice may have been reduced so hopefully it may improve.

It is now 2017! And its still quite there.....oasis village is looking abit randown from  the outside, wonder why its building exterior has not been maintained...dead grass, the  security is not manned....so sad,

but its just a personal preference and opinion...

some might like it,and  some prefer a established community....

This post is nothing personal. ...just a thought....

I know at the moment it is quiet but the fantastic value of the apartments makes it a brilliant opportunity to create a community. The number of people who have bought since El Oasis has been released for salein October last yeah is encouraging. If you look on FB page for owners at HDA you will see that we are all committed to bringing the fabulous place to life. Personally I am extremely happy with my purchase and would rather there than one of the built up resorts

We viewed several resorts before deciding to buy on HDA and don't regret it for a single second. Oasis itself is building rapidly as a community, with new completions taking place almost daily. Community fees have also only started being charged for since January 2017, and renovations and improvements in general upkeep are well underway. The build quality of the apartments is far superior to many we looked at, and the prices are an absolute bargain at the moment. If the recent rumour about the hotel turns out to be correct (not Branson, someone else) then HDA will undoubtedly continue to grow and thrive.

We have just completed on an apartment at El Oasis and think its the best thing we have done.  The community is now up and running with lots of new neighbours, apartments seem to be getting sold daily!  It might be a bit quiet at the moment - wait till the holidays begin!  I can only see this area becoming better and better!

These so called ghost towns will all be that for most of the year, the reason being these golf resorts are mainly second homes so people are at will only use them for so many weeks of the year, and with the Oasis being all apartments you will only get a hand full of people living on site full time because as they are not ideal for full time living due to the size, So even well established resorts for example la torre what has a good mix of properties apts villas & town houses hundreds of properties have full time residents but for many weeks of the year can feel like a ghost town, also you have la manga club that must be 30 years old and very well established even that resort can feel like a ghost town, What I would say is enjoy the quiet while you can because in the summer when it will be busy, you will be wishing it was still a ghost town. Enjoy

I bought a villa here and OMG  I love it!!! I can tell you now one driving factor for buying was it's quiet, well planned with plenty of space and the resort (in the villas anyway) has an increasing number of perm residents and as of 2018 I will be one.. With villas and apartments built to such a high standard at these prices I felt it was a no brainier. The other thing is owners tend to use their properties rather than let out.  To me it feels more like the beginning of a town than a golf resort. I also looked at banked owned in LA Manga before this and frankly it's nice but don't believe the hype as it's not the LA Manga of old, sadly. Seriously it's not worth to me anyway the community costs of 4000 euros and no joke it's heaving in the summer with holiday makers due their huge Holiday village which forms part of the resort.

I own two other properties that I do rent on golf resort with town centres etc. I won't say where as I don't want to offend anybody. These other resorts all look the same, are tiny inside and are in my view a very basic build standard.  They have also been ruined by cheap holiday rentals and that is why these resorts are busy.  These resorts all look the same, Hacienda looks lovely due to its different phases and buildings.

I think the only way is up for this place but if I'm honest and it stays as is then I will be more than happy.

Another thing is the people here are amongst the friendliest I have ever met on these resorts, they are so welcoming.

I have friends that plunge into buying one if the properties in HDA...in 2012. They like the area of the villas, but wish the whole resort could have been better in facilities and more livelier.

to be honest and not biased from an outsider point of view; the resort has great potential, big wide land with low density and big up and running golf course.beautiful golf course view.

if the community will be active and some one will have initiative and  "management"  is properly done and there is enough budget,,it could have been better...

Needs some attention to details, and supplying demands of holiday makers, with well maintained pools, and shops, and  a nice  looking entrance facade, tight better security system at gates main entrance, and the block of El oasis security gates manned,it   would enhance the "exclusivity resort" ...

A group of us went inside, nobody asked us any identification, and we were roaming around ....(huh)

Can I ask what you were expecting ?? To be personally escorted round, stopped and searched on entry ........

I am more than happy with the way the resort is progressing after some quiet years. It's on the up and will only get better and better.

Hi

We looked a few years ago at these properties when the recession had hit.  We were not sure what to do.  We have now purchased a villa last Aug 2016 and very happy we decided to do it last year.  We got it for a great price.  Safety for our children is very important.   Once all the properties r sold then shops will open and more restaurants will invest on the resort.  This will be a resort everyone will want to be at and hopefully the hotel will open.

We will eventually retirer out here once our children have left home.  A big welcome to the new residents.

Would love to get to know other people on the resort with children/couples and perm residents.

We will be over in April 2017 for two weeks to get to know where everything is-  any suggestions on local Markets/ restaurant off the resort/ activities for children/ great shopping centres etc

Thank you

Hi,

we have only recently bought, but from the last visit and the info on the owners facebook site it appears that it is all now coming together on HDA and it is becoming a lot busier. There is a big get together planned in April at Oasis and hopefully this will be the time to all meet each other.

We have 2 boys and the youngest aged 13 will be out in April looking for a game of football with any others who like to play. We will also have some friends out with us with a boy the same age, so thats a bit of a football team already started.

There are some nice areas around for shopping and eating out such as categena. We really liked the seafront restaurants at port de mazaron. We have not really tried the places in the local town yet, but osho blanco seems to get good reviews. The whole of HDA certainly seems a nice place to us and all the people we have met have been very friendly. A lovely place to spend time in the sun, what more can you want from life!

Hello Rita and Mark,

We will be out for the big get together on 15 April at 4 at the Malasia pool. How about meeting up at 3:30 at the pool before the rush to let the kids get to know each other. Strange thing but it always appears to be true that if the kids are happy and busy then life is a whole lot easier.

Hopefully then it will be time for a few relaxing drinks around the pool.
