Imputed Income Tax

Please can anyone advise how this works.  We have been asked to pay income tax based on something called Valor Catastral even though we do not rent our property out and have no income in Spain.

Even though you don't rent your property, the Spanish tax authorities assume you do, hence the rental tax whether you like it or not.

Your solicitor will have the details on this and can handle it.

I would budget up to €500 for a full tax year, running Jan to Dec

 Is it not the IBI? ( Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles) Local tax on the fact of owning a property?

It is called The Imputed Propert Income Tax !!  can anyone define what it means other than , that it is a tax based on second home owners in Spain who are presumed to rent out their properties whether they do or do not !!!   Steve
