Membership of Corvera Legal Action Group - Important Announcement

Hi All,

I have to let you all know, I went to the Polaris World Torre at the weekend before last, which is in November,  and I have to tell you the Inter continental was buzzing, and all of their rooms were fully booked.  Also their were quite a bit of rental going on too which I came to the conclusion that this could of been an overspill from the Hotel - oh yes that is what Calidona had promised to do also.

I think Torre has about 15,000 to 19,000 properties on it and it was buzzing - I also went to Roda and no there was barely a sole there and the staff said NO they were not, have not or think they will be busy in the near future.

Oh well looks like Polaris got it right - economic climate or not!!

All depends who and where.

I have just tried to book two different apartments on La Torre for February and neither owner would accomodate as they are having to hand their keys back to the bank through lack of bookings this year not coming close to covering their mortgages. Even at the cheaper end of the rental market there were simply no takers.

Why not stay on Corvera Steve?

just a thought ... if people on la torre a complete resort with all the facalaties and indeed a hotel that would appear to be full and attracting people to rent apartments and people still cannot make rentals pay ....... what chance have corvera and roda got ????

The airport is crucial to Corvera IMO but the facilities have to be there for owners to stand any chance of attracting people to spend their valuable holiday time there.  It's not just about golf, it's meant to be a country club, a place where the whole family may stay in luxurious surroundings.  As we all know golf courses are 2-a-penny in this region.  Unforunately for many people so are half finished golf resorts - as a result I think it is wise to protect yourself.

Anyway I know that I am now sounding like a broken record so I won't add any more to this as I've probably stated the obvious already. 

Just to clarify the situation on La Torre and other local hotels and resorts there are actually 2648 properties on La Torre and it is estimated that 20% are currently on the market for sale and yes large number have been handed back to the banks, a legal right in Spain, where people cannot make them pay on rentals

If you look around the websites you can pick up an apartment or Townhouse for around €150 per week, ebven less on Hacienda Requelme,  so yes, due to the amount of competition and desperate renters times are difficult and the renters that do well rent smart using contacts and offering golf packages

I don´t have any written proof but a local travel company in the know cliamed that the hotel on La Torre have achieved 60% occupancy this year  but this figure is slighty scewed beause of the Davis Cup event and people staying the the hotel when the flooding happened

We are now in the peak time of year for golfers in my wn case I have bookings up to the middle of December and then from the end of January, all golfers and what I do it promote with a reduced green fees offer

So yes renting on any local resorts will be very diffiicult, almost regardless of the facilities but it would also help if the couses a bit more realistic with golf prices

60%  occupancy in the hotel ( in a year when spanish tourism is down)  i would have thought that was pretty good ?  

apartments and town houses 150 euros p/w ....... thats more expensive than RODA  and bearing in mind la torres location compared to roda .......  MAYBE  FACALATIES DO MATTER  AFTERALL .....

agree about the golf prices roy but isnt the spanish way to put prices up when things get tough , this appeared to be the case over the summer in the region .

Another important point that keeps coming up.

If you are seeking legal advice, you cannot be forced to complete on your purchase. If you get phonecalls pressurising you please advise Corvera that you are seeking legal advice and point them in the direction of your solicitor. It is imperative that your solicitor has a Power of Attorney so that he/she can represent you.

It is rather sad that people who have nothing constructive to say on a thread that is specific to those of us questioning whether we should continue with a purchase on a resort failing to live up to the promises! However I suppose anyone choosing 1234 as a username sums up the mentality.

His problem was i wanted a property on la torre, and he emailed off the forum , trying to sell me his dolls house SORRY town house for when 150k when i told him i could get a villa for that price AND SENT HIM THE LINKTO THE AGENTS WEB SITE, then he started to send me daft emails  like tell me were you live and i will come round for a cup tea. i told him him allways in the irish bar with a chelsea top on i would buy a drink he never turned up. I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE YOU GUYS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY

I had a PM from Willywonker on the La Torre thread and got all sought of abuse and basically he was going to come round and see me ,I could find him in the Irish bar with a Chelsea shirt on , I asked him why did the shirt make him harder and should  i be  more  scared , 

Like you I said I can meet him for a cup of tea and a chat, but heard no more the guy is a bully and no doubt he will resurvice under another name

We have had our different opinions ,but what he said was way over the top , and totally un-called for

I think it might be even more important now for people to consider legal protection based on what may happen with Polaris.  I'm also looking forward to see what news there will be concerning the De Vere hotel announcement.- - this could be a decisive moment for many.
