Regarding car hire. I have tried most of the car hire companies for price and no one is cheaper than Auriga Crown. A couple of tips if you want the better prices and assurance of a car in the peak months. Don't book through a broker, go direct to Auriga Crown and register yourself as a user. Secondly, for the summer months book now and get your price guaranteed. This will save hundreds of Euros when compared to August prices booked at last minute.

Auriga Crown have never let me down and their prices are consistent and vehicles of good quality.

I have used Auriga Crown on most trips tp Condado.  I agree that they are probably the best out there.  I have always taken the car back with a full tank of fuel and been reimbursed.  However, I have had a quick look at the terms and conditions, if I read them correctly for rentals of 4 days or over you must return the car empty of fuel, no refund for any fuel returned.  Also you are not entitled to the first additional driver free of charge.  As I stated earlier, in contradiction to these terms, I have never paid for an additional  driver, and have always returned the car with a full tank and been credited.    What is the situation here?, I am slightly confused.  Have the terms and conditions changed since my last visit?

There seems to be a different set of terms and conditions for Ibiza.

Its always been the same, anything less than 7 days and you return empty. However, you can change that by speaking to them at the time of collecting the car and agree which way it is. I have never had a problem and when you get a refund you can generally make on the exchange rate back into sterling.

Anything less than 4 days we usually get told to return the car full but for 4 days and over we have to return it empty.

We always pay auriga crown the insurance but I did know about the 300 euros because I have seen somebody pay them 300 euros cash before - as he had a receipt in cash he asked for the money to be returned it in cash when they took the car back.

Don't know the policy for auriga crown direct but if you book through DYS the conditions state you get the additional driver free so it may depend on who you book through.

While we are discussing car hire, I've been pricing next summer and for 2 weeks we can't seem to get anything much cheaper than 500 euros for 2 weeks.  If you book Hertz through Ryan Air you can get the car for £270.  Has anyone used Hertz and if so what are the additional charges?  I understand that they use Solmar at Murcia airport and there is a charge for an additional driver but is there something else I have missed?  Even to use Solmar direct you are looking at 586 euro for the same dates.

Must just be us that were not aware of the addtional insurances. We won't make that error again!!

If you're looking for a good value we have just booked a four door small saloon through F C rent a car for three weeks in high season July/August at 168 euros a week  and they were the cheapest by miles. The website's below.

Jason check the site again just in case you have missed something. We have been on that one today and their prices are only correct to 26th March afterwhich they will update. Somewhere on the booking page it tells you that .   However, if you have had a confirmation that would be great news.

Hi Jann

I managed to get a confirmation when i booked my flights in early december. I dealt with Emma who was very helpful. Had to send an email to get it sorted as you rightly said the website isn't updated for summer 2010 prices yet.

Good Luck

Jay

Hi

I  use F&C approx 8 times a year (Murcia and Alicante airports), and find them great value for money - Kia Picanto 7 days at the end of July = 126€ confirmed.  You can request a 1/2, 3/4 or a full tank of fuel

But be aware that you are responsible for the first 250€ of any claim that is your fault, and they don't offer (insist on selling you) insurance to cover tyres, glass, etc.  I cover myself by taking an annual policy with a UK company just in case (£43.50  with www.protectyourbubble.com).

Remember that they have an office on Camposol Sector A - so if you're planning an extended stay (and you don't require a car for the whole duration), you can hire from the airport (min. 4 days) and drop off on Camposol; then hire form Camposol 4 days before you leave, and drop off at the airport.

I have used Goldcar and many of the other firms mentioned in this thread. what I find often frustrating is that the rental amounts are very similair but the fuel charges differ hugely and you are usually charged more for the benefit of being provided a full tank ( IE Service charge). This is the practice of most firms now,  To combat this then I look for a more competative rental rate from the outset and now always use "MONEYSUPERMARKET.COM" website, In  example of this, This Feb im paying less than £100 at half term for 7 days on a diesel Focus, Not many compared with this price.

Hi all, have fc rentacar got their office inside the airport, i was told that some companies are actually around the car park area of murcia airport, don't know how true this is. I've never seen the companies logo anywhere.

Hi Jay, just spoke to Emma and your right she's really helpful. For your info at Murcia airport she told me that we pick the car up outside arrivals where somebody will be waiting for us, normally by the eating area outside, the wooden building. Thanks again.

                                     Chris.

ps. at least i know where to pick the car up at Alicante now. cheers.
