Hi All,

Just thought I'd bring this issue to the forefront again as when out recently we still have the problem of people whos legs don't seem to work and dump there rubbish and leave it for someone else to clean up.  Across from our penthouse we have three bins, none of these bins takes paper or cardboard so we have to walk to the next corner for this bin, no big problem but it seems to be for some.  Can I just point out that if you breakdown your large cardboard boxes they will fit in the bin provided and with the winds on Condado paper just blows everywhere.  Think the parper/cardboard bin has a blue sticker on it ?

Please don't leave it for your neighbours or workmen to clear away, if your that lazy please put it in the car and drop it off next time you pass the appropriate corner.  This will keep the place looking respectable, clean and tidy.

Ali

I think most of us have spotted these indiscretions. Get yer bin patrol team enrolled &  into action Ali !

Fortunately, we are not quite as bad as back home in the UK yet, where bins only come into play when the floor is full !!

Halleluya

Some one has had the Ba**s to bring up the subject again. The number of times I have taken our rubbish over & have ended up clearing  away  for ithers is numerous.

As we intend to rent out next year we intend to include in our paperwork detais of the coloured bins & what they are for ,also in Capitals a reminder that household waste is NOT intended for the bins in the Jardind as it will incourage fly`s

Hope it works.

Will be only to pleased if some one gets in touch to report any of our clients who do not adhere to these rules so we can sort it out promptly.

Jan & Ham

Hi Will,

Don't need a team a few rounds fired over their heads from my Kalashnikov  AK47 AKM Assault Rifle and I'm sure they'll get the message(also  with telescopic lens).

Good call

Has anyone watched the lorry turn up to empty the main bins ?

I watched this fascinating spectacle last time we were out. A big truck with a large crane on the back lifts the bin together with the big metal container underneath, entirely out of the ground and then empties the contents into the skip on the back of the lorry

I say fascinating because after I watched him empty the blue (paper) bin, he then swung the crane over to the green (plastic) bin and did exactly the same. The entire contents dumped on top of  the previous load.

Ironically, at this stage the truck was full and bits of paper/cardboard were starting to blow down the street. Fair play to the driver, once he had finished with the crane, he went down the street and picked up all the stray bits of paper etc. Only problem was, I watched him then put this straight into the silver (household waste) bin !

Having spent the week separating all the rubbish and making sure it goes into the correctly coloured bin, I felt like I had wasted my time as it all ends up together in the back of the truck and clearly the driver couldnt care less either way

Recycling gone mad

While over in September we saw a key holder/cleaner  come out of an apartment and dump the rubbish in the litter bin. She then went to another apartment and did exactly the same thing. She then left and went back to her own garden. We shouted but she totally ignored our pleas

Oh Please,

Lets all take a moment here.  I dont think naming people on here will resolve matters for this occassion.  Then we'll only have someone naming someone else for a similar or even a different misdemeanour. Besides the person may not even view this forum, therefore it would be a futile act.  Unless of course the main intention is to get people to target this person.  I use the word person so as not to try to plant seeds in peoples heads of whom it may be.   A practice I think others should follow.

So lets not target anyone but look at the good points made on here, such as let your renters be aware of the system.  Good point Jan, and I will now that I have that information.  It will be clearly defined in my apartment.  Being a bloke its not something I would have thought of.  You dont have to tell me the others!!!!!  We'll still be here next week!!

Right enough Jim,

Only way is for community to do what it can to encourage good practice. A polite word to anyone you see just to remind them where the proper place is will do the trick nine times out of ten.

Regards,

I think this could be something RPM could deal with or promote a bit better- maybe by a mailshot or even a few notices here and there reminding people where the main bins are and what each is for.

We did see a fair amount of stuff around several of the Jardine bins when we had a walk through. Mainly carbdoard and polystyrene and plastic wrappings/bubble wrap but one problem is that is does blow around- aside from the fact it souldnt be dumped there in the first place. Also often in the summer we found a huge mound of stuff around the correct bins because they were full- but I'm not complaining about that because it was always removed although maybe there should have been more rubbish deposits at each speck. I suppose this might die off over time as people stop buying furntiutre and goods for the apartment. It doesnt excuse the cleaning lady though and there's every chance she's going to walk along the main drag past the bins or drive past them at some point in the day if she's living there.

In answer to Tony's post below, RPM have done a mailshot to all owners.  You will find a copy in your mailboxes. Article 10 of the Municipal Ordinance Alhama de Murcia states ;-

It is forbidden to perform any operation that may dirty the roads or public spaces and specified as follows:

1.  Deposit household waste on public roads or in the litter bin.

I will ask Lili in the morning if she can post this on the RPM website as well, in the meantime you can read the full article at http://naranjosjardine1.wordpress.com/category/community-news/.

Thanks for that info Phil- I was thinking I  might call by RPM and suggest that when we are over next, but no need now.

I know lots of people are more relaxed about certain issues but I really think this community living is quite different than the way most of us live in the UK. I've tried to analyse what made me so cross about some of the attitudes expressed on that not to be mentioned thread 'vandalism garden 8' and in the main it was the lack of regard for people's neighbours.  This was underpinned by people being in denial that there are rules for community living most of which have their basis in law. This isue about rubbish is another aspect of that because afterall there are plenty of rubbish deposit bins along the main drag.

I think I'd just expected that all other owners would be respectful of their neighbours because afterall for most of us its a huge financial committment and we'd want the resort to be well looked after and to be a place people want to go rather than to get a 'name' for pockets of unruly behaviour and poor management. I  was totally overwhelmed by the potential size of Condado de Alhama and it occurred to me that unless the place is well managed it had potential to become just another town with all the problems that would bring. Issues like managing the rubbish are minor when its an individual not following the community drections but potentially could have a big impact on the whole resort when its more than one individual 'doing their own thing'. I always think it quite arrogant behaviour to ignore rules.

I've been much more reassured recently and people we spoke to on the resort were of a similar mind. So I'm happy to see RPM flexing their muscles and am hoping it doesnt fall on deaf ears. If they could get a uniform approach to the security issues too, that would be great.
